Back from the oral surgeon to get the stitches out and everything is healing fine so no restrictions on the cruise - yay! And I’m starting out a pound less than I expected due to the “tooth extraction weight loss plan”; my lowest weight yet.

AllThis, my co-worker next to me has one of these - I believe hers is just a cheapy that she picked up somewhere…she uses it from time to time but I never hear it and our “offices” are pretty open here so if it was noisy I would hear it.

Snowflake, yes I did and I love it. My DH also uses the withings BP cuff to monitor his BP. The app keeps an acct for each of us and it tracks our progress,

It’s also supposed to talk to myfitnesspal and our fitbit (which we also love) but I can’t seem to get any of that to work yet.

Thanks for the update … I may have to splurge on one.

Rescuing us from page 5!!!

I hadn’t weighed in for about a week and half and was discouraged to find myself up almost three pounds this morning. Last night I splurged on a burger and fries and have been a little lax lately so today it’s back on track!

It’s sunny here in Massachusetts. Good day for a walk.

Thanks for the rescue.

I’ve been pretty good about hitting the gym frequently, though not pushing the workouts too hard. Have been up and down, but sitting lately at that 5 lbs from my goal place I’ve been stuck at for a long time. And, off to a cooking class this morning!! Oh well.

Still snow here so am planning a good XC ski workout tomorrow. On ski days I seem to eat healthier so I should schedule group exercise events more often.

I’m week 3 of no junk food, no eggs, and no whey except when I switched oatmeals and realized that the new one snuck whey protein and fake sugar into it. Grrr … and I’m usually such a good label reader. The good news is that my tongue could tell as it started to react (swollen, numb) and that is what caused me to read the label. Seems like me and whey and eggs are not getting along. On I go with the 6-week trial.

Now that I am more aware of these subtle reactions, it makes me even more diligent as I wonder what is going on deeper in my digestive system if I eat things that cause a reaction. My thought is if I get my digestive system more optimal then I should be more healthy overall. More research needed.

Anybody here???

Am pleased that I get to the gym much more often than I had in the past (which was like, um, never) and am feeling a bit more in shape for the upcoming ski trip. The scale still shows me at about 4.5 lbs from my goal, which is where I was last July! Its been up and down by a few lbs, but that target weight still eludes me.

jym, I’m part of your club, though more like 10 pounds from where I’d like to land. I bet some of the problem is that muscle weighs more than fat. And some of it is just that what I want to eat, and how much exercise I want to get, lands me about where I am now weightwise. I have to eat less or exercise more to make progress. I’m eating about what I’d like to eat the rest of my life, so my feeling is I need to exercise a little more recognizing it may take me a year to lose the last 10 pounds, or maybe even two years. I said from the beginning I was going to be in a hurry about losing weight - so I try to focus on that.

I feel like I am getting into pretty good shape, going to the gym a lot. I’ve been doing the elliptical and watching the TV at the gym, staying on longer than usual to finish some programs. But I am also eating too much, so the weight loss part is very slow. I lost .2 lbs. this week. Oh well, better than gaining!

Okay, to those of you exercising steadily … congrats! (Jym, mstee, mathmom, to name just a few.)

I have been exercising intensely (cross country skate skiing) for 3 of 7 days each week and the other days I’m doing nothing or a brief walk. I can feel that my body is continuing to tighten up, am down 4 pounds since winter, and am motivated to continue my healthy eating and exercising.

Today, I put on a pair of dress pants that are more than 5 years old, and they looked good on my hips! That gives me extra incentive to continue to improve my excercise and maintain healthy eating.

Congrats, Snowy and mstee and jym and everyone else for hanging in there. It’s so hard. The ups and downs.

I’ve been an obsessive 5 miles a day runner for two decades. Running used to keep my weight down no matter what I ate, but it doesn’t anymore. So I tried adding P90X and yoga and Bob Harper workouts, but those didn’t help my weight either. I realized that instead of working out more I just needed to eat a lot less. I drastically cut my calories (less than 1500) AND carbs (less than 100). It’s been hard, but the good news is that I don’t work out as much (I walk more) and I’m losing more weight.

^ That was a realization that broke my heart. To know that I couldn’t exercise my indiscretions away was a bitter pill to swallow.
It was on CC I read that 80-90% of losing weight was about what one eats. Or, more appropriately, doesn’t eat. :(

I really like my carbs. Would be really hard for me to cut back too much on them.

I figured out which carbs I couldn’t live without (chocolate, wine, something bread-y for breakfast and sweets at parties and holiday meals) and pretty much cut everything else out. I hardly ever eat pasta, rice, or potatoes and when I do, I indulge in tiny quantities.

My weekend eating patterns have been spilling into my weekdays a little too much and I have gained back a couple of pounds. I need to get back to the committed level I was at in the fall because I would like to lose another 4 or 5 pounds before my trip in April. Oooh. That’s really soon. Can I do that in five weeks?

Do any of you do the warm water with lemon in the morning? I have seen a couple of reports that this helps with weight loss and maintenance. Is it a fad or real science?

So true (post 4552) – a bitter pill! when younger, if I was active (running, jogging, whatever) for 45 min. to 1 hour a day, I didn’t have to worry about what I ate. Not true anymore. Exercise does have other benefits, of course, like improving balance, mood, strength, etc. And I would weigh even more than I do without it . . .

I am slowly converting to mathmom’s way of eating (post 4555). But I do love those carbs! I find I do better with a modest amount of carbs in my diet, seems to make my brain work better, but it is hard to keep from overdoing it.

EPTR, I would also like to lose 5 lbs. before I leave on a trip at the end of March. I had set a goal of 10 lbs., but have modified it to 5, now, as time is short, LOL.

Haven’t tried the lemon water thing, but have been changing to light roast coffee instead of a skim latte in the mornings the past several days. I may try adding in some dandelion or other weight loss herbal tea. I love tea of just about any kind.

I havent had pasta in a long time, but had a “hankering” for it yesterday, so had some for dinner. Can do without potatoes, but do eat sushi (rice), fruit, some bread, and hot cereal.

Wow, I am so stiff today. Went to an exercise class yesterday where I exercised some different muscles than usual, apparently. Much of the class was spent doing variations of crunches on our backs while holding one of those giant balls in the air with our legs/feet. I only did some of it, because it takes some sort of coordination/strength/talent that I am a little short on, but apparently a little was a lot, LOL. Today I went to solicit raffle prizes for the local high school at two bakeries, so I indulged in a pecan roll, but only ate part of it. :)

People clearing their consciences today!!! Lol!!!

You are all absolved!!! I should say we are all absolved!
