Yes. I’m in for exercise and getting back on track with the food. I gained 5 lbs. over the weekend (5 days, so a pound a day, I guess!) – trip to Boston, Mike’s Pastry, Giacomo’s and some stress eating. A lot of stress eating. I met a half sister that I hadn’t seen since she was a baby. But, she was great. The trip was great. And the food was great. What can I say?

Normally I would be happy to join the five pound game but I won’t be able to really exercise for a while. Not to mention my birthday Monday; we’re going to a new (for us) French restaurant and I’m already drooling over the menu. My main goal is to not gain weight while building back muscle mass, which should mean I’m losing fat, right? Remember the discussion of the difference in weight between fat and muscle?!

FYI for those who have been here all along - I’m planning to wear my “temperature dress” for my birthday dinner. For the rest of you - that’s an old favorite dress that I totally outgrew so I hung it in the hall and tried it on every month while I was losing weight until it fit. It’s actually a bit large now…

I am currently motivated by the fact that I didn’t gain weight over the 8 weeks I was laid up with the broken ankle. I’ve resumed my morning weigh-in and am paying more attention to what I eat. Most of my “weight loss lifestyle” habits stuck with me - but self control started slipping. Now I’m regaining that control.

Very happy to see this thread moving again! :D

Okay, I’m in for the 5 pound thing. I hurt my back last week and haven’t been exercising but I’m hoping by next week it will be better. So…I’m in!!! Weigh in on Monday?

I’m in. Will also weigh Monday morning. Those of us that make it will be cheering on those of us on the way until we ALL get there. I am getting a picture in my head of a physical challenge or race when people that cross the obstacle or finish line go back beside others and cheer and encourage them.

Can I join this thread? Back when it started I didn’t need to lose weight so I never looked at it. Now it’s two years later and I’ve been carrying around an extra ten pounds for about it a year. It’s a lot on my small frame and, according to my doc, I have lost an inch in height as well!

I started My Fitness Pal on Tuesday and I am getting a kick out of it. It reminds me of when I was in college and used a calendar/diary called “Eat and Run” which had sections to record most of the same information. I remember diligently trying to figure out the calorie counts of various foods; MFP makes it so easy. :)

I’m in (weigh in Mon).

I like that image eddieodosa,
I hope I’m one of the ones going back to help others but If not I’ll be happy to be in the race either way!!!

I started MFP today which was probably a mistake since it was “kolache breakfast” at the office :-(. I had trouble entering my Chinese veggie lunch and I totally regretted my Healthy Choice (210cal!!!) cookies as soon as I ate them! I have been lucky and never been overweight but I turned 50 and the weight it piling on now.

I’ll try the 5# challenge too! Got to get my weight down before the holidays get here.

Okay, those that can start Monday, weigh in and report your starting weigh in. You don’t have to tell us the number, just that you weighed in and recorded your starting point. If you cannot start tomorrow, pick your start date, and then report in. Ending weigh in will be on Oct. 16 for those that start tomorrow.

5 lbs, here I come.

Sounds good!!! We’re in this together!!!

And welcome to the thread, Onemoremom!!

Yesterday morning I was down 1.3 lbs so may count that as my starting point ;). Except I’m about to start dining out for my birthday tomorrow so probably will go right back up!

Happy Birthday, Marilyn!!!

I’ve been finding that with my new digital scale my weight fluctuates by 2 lbs, even though I’m weighing myself at the same time each day. It is very discouraging to have lost two pounds one day, and apparently gained it back in one day even though that is completely impossible! I’m assuming it’s water retention, but sheesh!

I’m in for Monday morning.

I’ve been on a low-carb plan since 9/5 and using an app called CarbsControl. I’ve lost 6.5 pounds since I started, and this app really helped. It also calculates calories as well as a few other metrics. The only annoying thing about it is that entering the foods takes some getting used to. Now that I have those that I eat often on my “Favorites” list, it’s a lot easier.
I only plan to go down another two or three pounds so I won’t join you folks, but I will cheer you on! It feels great to lose those extra pounds I’ve been carrying around for the last year and a half!

Wow, moonchild. It is nice to hear some one successful “weigh in”.
I have a small frame and don’t think a pound a week is realistic for me but I will do my best.
mstee, Good for you. (And I would love a cannoli right now.)

Okay. It’s Monday. I weighed in. Ready to DO this.

Me too. Weighed in.

Okay, me too. Let’s do this!

I weighed in - back up over a pound so I’m in too! (And my Wii fit failed to acknowledge my birthday like it’s done every other year.)

I weighed in. I also signed on to Myfitnesspal. It said I had not been on the site in 36 months. At that time I weighed 14 lbs less. Oh boy was that a reality check.
So far this AM. Weighed in, ate a good breakfast (for me this is 1/2 cup of dry rolled oats cooked and eaten plain, I find this satifies my carb need for the day when I am in healthy mode), committed myself to online food diary (I have used over the last few years My Daily Plate but will try My fitnesspal again and decide what one works best for me)
Still to do today- exercise, market with healthy low carb in mind, be mindful of what enters my month.
Thanks everyone.
