Happy Anniversary Marilyn!

You should go back and start reading where you joined at - inspiring I bet!!!

We are going to Olive Garden tonight to celebrate my nephew finishing first grade with high honors. I’ve already tracked and planned my dinner so I know exactly what I’m having. Hopefully that will help me stay on track.

Tomorrow we are having mom’s homemade enchiladas for father’s day. Haven’t decided yet how to handle that.

Wow! Good to see everyone and see that you are all doing well. I am feeling better as well. I found a compromise and it is working. A few weeks ago i had gotten so discouraged at having gained some weight back that I was thinking of joining Get in Shape For Women. It is very pricey and a lot of you made some sensible remarks about that route of losing weight. So I tried an online program called Beyond Diet and actually gained weight. Well, I can do THAT without any help, thank you!
Sooooo, a friend of mine is doing the Get Fit for Women and she is giving me the diet that they use. I started last week and am down two pound. It is low carb but (and this is the key for me) very controlled portions.

Each morning I have been eating oatmeal with a bit of Fiber One for crunch, stevia and blueberries. For lunch I have salad with 4 oz of chicken and dinner is 4 oz of salmon, half a cup of brown rice and vegetable. Some days I have had Ahi tuna or chicken instead of salmon. Snacks are a piece of fruit, a yogurt or carrots and hummus.

So far I have not been hungry between meals (or no hungrier than I am when I am not trying to lose weight) I feel energetic, have been waking more easily in the morning and sleeping better at night.

EPTR, that sounds like a sensible plan. Good food choices, controlled portions.

I love carbs of all types, but when I eat more of them, the weight comes right back. Whole grain bread? White bread? Doesn’t matter. Weight comes right back.

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice day today!

My new plan is that, if I am over where I want to be on my weekly weigh-in it is back to logging my food on MFP until I get back down. (So guess what . . .) One thing I like about MFP is that if it looks like I am going to be over on calories on any given day I can get on my bike and take an evening ride to even things out.

I also love carbs, bread/pasta and sweets. Yesterday was rainy here so I baked. Cookies for my son and future D-I-L’s pre-wedding open house and scones for my soon to be visiting in-laws. Still more cookies to bake. One thing I remind myself is that, if I eat one cookie (or whatever) it is not going to satisfy me any more than eating no cookies; I’ll just want another. My other strategy is to have a beer when I’m baking; then cookies don’t appeal so much. ;)

It is a beautiful day here. I ran 5K and then biked 10 miles with DH. I’m going to stick my feet in my pond and call it a triathlon.

I’ve been eating out a lot lately. So need to get back on track. My s;s gave me 8 sessions with a personal trainer as my b’day present. Looking forward to setting that up.

jym, A personal trainer made all the difference for me. I saw a tee at TJMaxx yesterday that said “Strong is the new skinny” which is pretty much how I feel. Good luck!

Will the personal trainer make me a cup of coffee when I wake up and push me to the gym ?

jym,
Be sure to pass all of the trainer’s wisdom on to us! I can use the help.

I was pretty well behaved this weekend. Ate out Friday but had Ahi over salad and one martini. Yesterday we went to a graduation party but got there so late we missed the meal andi skipped the cake. Hand I stopped at a Tapa place and had some oysters, shrimp and one duck drumstick each. Oh, and a glass of wine.
Today was hit or miss but did pretty well controlling myself. Cod for dinner with sauteed veggies and a glass of wine.

I was awful this weekend.

Well, trying to make lemonade out of lemons, as they say. Something I ate didn’t agree with me, and I’ve been up with an upset stomach since 5 am. Guess It will help, albeit temporarily, with the weight.

I’m joining you all in this weight loss adventure. I went back to Weight Watchers last week and have had a successful week. Down maybe 2 pounds, have about 13 more to lose. I tried to make some good changes this week. Never a big water drinker, I have drank about 24 ounces of water a day, and will try to increase that. I’ve also been on my bike almost every day. I’m going to read and participate in this thread as another good change.

Welcome Packer.
Jym- hope you feel better soon.
I feel good about the weekend. I stuck to my eating style for most of Friday and Saturday. Yesterday I had 1 piece of French toast. I made scrambled eggs with spinach so I would have an alternative choice. Limited my pizza last night to one slice with no pepperoni on my section.
Youngest is home for the week. I know she wants to hit several of her favorite spots. I am pretty clear that dining out is a downfall for me. I know that in order to lose or stay close to this weight I have to limit my meals out. I just don’t seem to be able to order the salad on most occasions. The progress is that I can avoid the bread basket and I do eat less. I can’t skip the tortilla, fresh naan or fresh fried tortilla chips yet.
Any tips that I can lightly pass on to my D. She is on some meds that make her overly hungry. She also likes sweets and carbs. I don’t take a lot of meds so I don’t really know how much is out of her control.

Thanks, mom60. This is a tough time of year as we have several celebrations (birthdays, anniversary, fathers day, etc) so will have to really try harder.

Welcome Packer!

I am not being bad, but I might be delaying my weight loss goals while on vacation this week. I am exercising a lot each day, so hopefully I am building muscle.

I’d like to join in. I’ve been going to WW since January and I’m down about 14 lbs, with more to go. It went very slowly during the winter, but I’ve been on a good roll the past few months. I’ve been wearing a Fitbit and aiming for 10,000 steps a day. The increased activity is helping a lot.

We discussed vacations last week at my WW meeting. The leader suggested that you decide ahead of time whether you want to try to lose, maintain for have a “controlled gain” on vacation. She said that the key is to keep some control and increase exercise, like Snowflake is doing.

Good to see this thread more active! How’s the week going for everyone? Enjoying the East Coast heat wave? Hard to exercise but the heat definitely dulls the appetite, that’s for sure.

I think that’s a great tip.

H is interested in a Fitbit type device - any recommendations? Has to be relatively simply to use. That’s the key.

I noticed the other day they were selling various FitBits at Kohls - was surprised to see them there!

I had the fitbit force, but it was recalled.

So I take it the force is not recommended?
