Meyer lemons! Yum!!
I forget that I have my fitbit set at 10K steps, and when it occasionally goes off/vibrates it startles me!

Friends of mine love “crack slaw” which is low carb. I made it and “meh”. But Google it, there are lots of similar recipes, you might like it.
Will plan to get one last day in at the gym today before traveling. Weather is nasty here. Glad we aren’t traveling today. DH made bacon this morning. Boy that smells good!!
Getting the head in the game is so key.
Chick fil A published its cole slaw recipe in our newspaper - they are shifting I believe to a kale salad. When I find it I am going to email my dietitian about a sugar substitute. Do any of you have a good suggestion/experience to substitute another artificial sweetener for sugar? When I find the published cole slaw recipe, I will type it up. MIL also makes a cucumber and onion salad that uses sugar, so I want to substitute the sugar in that too. Right now I am eating cut up cucumber in-between meals.
Got hit with a bad cold. Thank goodness for Day-quil and Night-quil. Was able to sleep a lot. Body aching. Really just worn out, but the med is keeping the nose from too much running.
You are still sick?? You sure it isnt something that needs further attention?
I use Stevia at work because thats all they have for sweetener. When I bake or make chocolate pudding I use the splenda blend thats half sugar, half splenda. Its ok in the baked stuff but the chocolate pudding gets a funny taste after a day or so.
I looked at the crack slaw recipes because I will have to make something at the slopes but you dont recommend it so – any other idea for easy, healthy eating?
Did hit the gym but only did a half hour. This exercising generates a lot of laundry!!
Thanks for your concern @jym626 - it is just an old fashioned cold. Took my second dose of Day-quil after getting a lot of good sleep this morning. When H went off to work, he barely noticed I was sick…an engineer that is obtuse on events around unless it has a direct impact on him. I did ask him to bring in the paper for me (I was feeling that crappy) and he did. Was pleased last night that he wanted what I had planned for dinner (a first in quite a while). He also is getting to like the hot tea idea - he took some tea bags to work.
Anything to help reduce the caloric intake healthy.
The Meyer lemon chicken piccata was delicious but it does have a lot of butter and oil. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…oh wait, I guess maybe there is. Drat.
Here are some more soup recipes. The potato soup recipe is one of my favorites, and plan to make more. Still have the cabbage fat-burning soup to make - ingredients are on the counter.
n about a sugar substitute. Do any of you have a good suggestion/experience to >>>>>
My dh uses Truvia but it has a almost vanilla-y taste to me, it’s a bit too much.
Honestly, I use sugar as I use sugar very infrequently. But Splenda is supposed to be measurably equal. I probably should use it when I can i.e. in a cole slaw recipe that only calls for a tablespoonful. I am not much of a baker and reserve that for holidays but I have never substituted for sugar in a “major” type dish like apple pie. Maybe I should try it some time to see. Yds’s gf can use Truvia but not Splenda. She is paleo, gluten-free, dairy free.
SOS, feel better. My cold is just now going away and it bloomed 3 weeks ago. I am inspired by all these recipes - I did make an easy and low cal tomato soup last week that we’ve been enjoying with salad all week. What i’d really prefer is a gooey grilled cheese to go along with it, but alas, reason prevails! There are bathing suits in my immediate future and I’m working as much on healthy as weight loss…
Had some pb tonight. There isn’t much in the house since we’ll be leaving to go skiing, so am making do with what is here. Was going to go out with DH but we are packing.
Honestly, the crack slaw was good, it just didn’t have enough ooomph. I’m not enough of a chef to tell you which ingredient to tamper with, but I’m guessing the soy sauce and the ginger and garlic. LOL. A friend of mine said it reminds her of the contents of an egg roll. I think I would add shredded carrots as well.
Are the carrots raw or cooked? DH is allergic to raw carrots and I’d prefer not t kill him with my cooking
Did a Zumba class again. Holy cow. But I feel I’m getting better, at least a wee little bit. these people have more energy than an atomic bomb. :))
How long are those classes? An hour? You guys must be young!
Zumba is one hour and NO! I am not young. For sure I was the oldest in the class this evening. I can’t go all the moves…I cannot jump, for instance, with my knees…so I keep going in an alternate move of one sort or another. I did Jazzercise for many years and truthfully, I miss the more “non Zumba” way of dancing. But, it is what is is and this is what is offered.
I haven’t done Zumba, but it looks a lot like the Dance aerobic class I did when my kids were in school. I’d still do it if she didn’t teach the class now at such an inconvenient time.
Interesting that people have such variable reactions to same foods.
Interesting article, SJCM.
I am new to this thread. Great motivator. I have lost 65 pounds in the last year. I have logged EVERYTHING I eat in My Fitness Pal for 362 consecutive days and consistently set and revised calorie intake goals as I have dropped the weight. I have arthritic feet and knees so I have done water aerobics 3-4 times a week for 18 months along with neighborhood dog walks and hand weight routines while watching TV. I maintained my weight from Thanksgiving through New Years and am now working hard to lose 10 to 15 more pounds. The last push is tough so I need motivation! I started with a BMI over 40 and will be pleased if I can sustain a BMI of 27 to 28. I’m 57 years old and want to be realistic about maintaining weight loss.
