@jym626 - old injury from three years ago (broken ankle) but felt it needed PT so have been getting that last couple of months.
I am on relapse today. Yesterday, I spent 1 1/2 hours in gym, going over the exercises set by my new trainer. Back to gym at night for favorite yoga teacher. So Tuesday was good.
Today, came to work at 8:30 but patient was a no-show. A few free hours during the day, during which I walked around. Bought a salad, which I split with biller. But here is the downfall. Their is a jewelry store nearby that is closing, with 70% off. In my last walk, I ended up there. A bracelet and then earrings. OUCH
DH decided he needed wine with dinner, so my exercise was cancelled out. But still better than not exercising!
dmd, I never formally did WW, but when I was trying to get pregnant with S1 I did what was basically WW maintenance just so I was eating healthier. Haven’t done the program otherwise. I have been calorie/fat/sodium driven because of the cardiac stuff, so the points is something to get used to. OTOH, I’m not as hungry so far. I won’t eat unlimited fruit, but if it’s zero points, I’m finding I go for it instead of something less healthful.
OTOH, I am saving my bonus points for a scone during Downton Abbey Sunday night. Former DIL has a killer recipe which I am going to attempt.
You can do it, CD. You just need a little “tune- up”. You did it before. You can get back on track.
Mine is going very slowly. Lost the first 7 quickly, the last 3 slowly. Still at half way point. 10 to go…
Marilyn- if you ever find yourself 4 hours up the coast I’ll walk with you. I walked along the shoreline earlier this week and ran into a friend of a friend. I walked with her and it pushed me to go an extra mile. I realized that sometimes peer “pressure” can push us to work out harder. We exchanged numbers and I hope to walk with her again.
@VaBluebird I have a good friend who lost almost 40 lbs doing Zumba. She also make a bunch of new friends. I should try it but I have absolutely no dance ability.
@jym626 good for you keeping up with the gym.
@CountingDown - my problem is I wouldn’t be able to eat just 1 scone.
Weight is moving down very slowly. I find I am doing a pretty decent job of tracking my food. For me the key continues to be limiting my dining out to just 1 or 2 meals a week.
For some things that I can’t eat only one of, I’ll cook only just enough for everyone to have one (or whatever a reasonable allotment is.)
Scones are easy to make and freeze. I’ll cut them in wedges, wrap individually, take one out at a time and bake. I like warm scones. Haven’t made any in awhile as I am trying to not bake. Too much temptation.
Scones are WW 20 points – a Starbucks raspberry scone is >400 calories. I get 30 WW points per day and 35 bonus points per week. Haven’t dipped into the bonus points, but I also haven’t exercised much the past two days because I was helping a friend who had an emergency admission to the hospital.
May have to make a small one for me and the guys can have the others. My guys won’t eat cucumber sandwiches, but they would like meat pies. What would Mrs. Patmore do?!
I had a really, really difficult day yesterday because I was really, truly hungry. It took hanging on by my fingernails to get to bed last night without pigging out on something!! This is the first time this has happened to me since I really buckled down here. A bit concerning. : /
How about this for a sign to be eating healthy - my H drives a friend to an evening meeting and daytime events, and they often go to McDonald’s for lunch or dinner. Well last night, the french fry unit was broken, so no fries. The shake machine was being cleaned, and no shakes. I noticed H made a peanut butter sandwich when he came home.
Sending encouraging thoughts everyone’s way.
Interesting to see what changes WW is making. Since Oprah is 10% owner, I am sure she is getting quite involved - and she does know how to lose weight. I do believe she is going to lose the weight and then stick to keeping it off.
@VaBluebird - every now and then that extreme hunger hits me too, and I’m starting to think it’s hormone related.
??
Going for a deep tissue massage today . . . love!!! Although sometimes it makes me feel fatigued after.
Be careful @SouthFloridaMom9 - I have a friend who had bruises after deep tissue massage in the DFW area. Maybe your person is not quite so ‘deep tissue’.
I’ve been going to her for a year . . . oh my gosh can’t live without her now.
She’s very sensitive to pushing me but not too hard.
Over a year ago I hurt my hip severely, and thought I was on the way to a hip replacement. That’s how I started with her (and a chiro, and an orthopedic doctor).
I’m back to walking/running, and not in any pain whatsoever (no hip replacement though I do have hip dysplasia and bouts of bursitis).
That episode really humbled me.
Health is wealth. I just have to remind myself of that when I’m eating crap.
I am getting a deep tissue massage today too @SouthFloridaMom9 !! Also love them!
@SOSConcern - If Oprah owns 10% of WW, sadly her wallet might be a bit lighter too these days. I hope their financial picture improves.
LOL about the McDonald’s karma! But I get it on the hunger pangs. Have had the hunger pangs and munchies lately. I did do 35 min on the elliptical today but I dont want to rationalize that into letting myself eat more. That said, we are going out for dinner tonight.
Weight crept up a smidge, but the daily fluctuation is not unexpected, especially with the munchies.
I do not want to go to the gym today but I begrudgingly agreed to meet DH there…
I don’t like feeling pushed. He wasnt pushy, but I felt pushed…
jym626, I hope you feel glad that you went to the gym afterwards. I don’t like feeling pushed either but I’m always happy after it’s done.
@SouthFloridaMom9 I am so glad you are getting great results managing your hip situation conservatively.
Yes we all need to be kind to our bodies.
Do any of you watch the Rachel Hunter half hour show “Rachel Hunter’s Tour of Beauty” on OVTVHD? I record them. She has gone to some interesting places, China, Dubai, Greece, Korea, Australia, etc. It is interesting on a number of levels. Long marriage was a theme at several places, and she mentioned she is struggling in that area (looking at her info on wikipedia, surprised she stayed married so long to Rod Stewart, although they were separated for the last 7 years - having the two children probably was an influence to hang in). I didn’t know about the hockey player, but something kept them from marrying.
One interesting thing from one of the places was to walk backward 100 steps a day to help your lumbar spine. That was interesting and I may try that on the flat street in front of my home when I do a big neighborhood walk.
I didn’t know about the Australian product Lucas’ Papaw - she was where they made it and was with the Lucas family. Do any of you use it?
So I will keep watching. Interesting about camel’s milk, honey, etc.
Thank you @SOSConcern!
I will have to watch for that show from Rachel Hunter - sounds interesting.
