wnp, is summer squash the same as green zucchini?

Summer squash is yellow…but I interchange them a lot…I bet you could in that recipe, especially since it’s peeled and cubed…

ugh…S’s GF just brought us chocolates from a fancy Cape Cod candy store. It wouldn’t be polite not to open them. Somebody stop me…

It’s probably too late to stop you. Did you enjoy one? My favorite Cape Cod chocolate are the ones that are made with dried cranberries and nuts. Bog Frogs?

I actually haven’t opened the package yet. It’s from (and I’m not a Cape Cod regular)…The Candy Manor??

Hmmm. Never heard of that one but if you ever get a chance to try Cape Cod Candies cranberry and dark chocolate line…it’s worth the cheat.

Trying hard to avoid the brownies in the kitchen. . .DD brought the pan back from a friend’s, so it helps that they are several days old. Made from the Trader Joe’s mix that calls for a cube of butter, so you KNOW that anything with that much butter has to be good!

just saw this thread and thought I would jump on. Just started WW. I had been ill and lost alot of weight, but am seeing it creep back on and want to lose 10 pounds. I also want to really track and see what I can eat . Because I lost weight being ill, have decreased my muscle mass so know Ihave to start some sort of weight work, as I cant consume many calories. I also take two medications that cause weight gain.
My H decided to start working out and he through lifting weights, and decrreasing slightly what he eats has lost 15 pounds, he has lost his “love handles” and is working on his stomach.
My daughter did the my plate and has lost 20 pounds and looks great.
I make protein bars that are vanilla protein, honey, peanut butter and chex, so gluten free. now I just have to figure out the points.
I also use a smaller plate, and use a “tea” spoon when I eat as it makes me slow down and savor the food. I dont like to eat on the run as I never really taste it and then want to eat more to make up for ths loss of satisfaction.

Welcome, downtoearth! Sounds like you’re off to a good start. MyPlate has a recipe entry function; enter all the ingredients and it will figure the calories, etc.

We’re having a quiet weekend. I stocked up on vegetables. Dinner yesterday: roasted sweet potatoes, roasted red peppers, a huge salad, corn on the cob (1/2 cob for me), steak (2 oz for me), white wine (3 oz for me). This is a formula that is working well. I also found a great snack - wasabi peanuts. I measure 1/4 cup, and it’s not bad on calories and has some protein.

Good luck to everyone trying to get through the holiday weekend without too much damage!

Good luck, downtoearth! I am doing WW also (down just over 20# since Feb at my weigh-in yesterday About 10-15 more to go) The WW online site also has a recipe function where it will calculate the points for you and also save the recipe for future use. Any chance you can share the recipe for the protein bars with us?

Hi everyone, I got back from my disneyworld vacation one week ago. When I returned, I had gained a few pounds back but as of today I am .5 less than when I left for vacation - so I am feeling pretty good about that.

I’ve been doing WW online, but haven’t tracked my points for a couple of weeks (partly because I was feeling bad about what I’ve been eating) but I am back to it this week. WW is working well for me right now…as long as I can stay focused on the point value of what I put in my mouth. For example, I have learned that carbs are high in points…so I am doing better at limiting them. This is a big deal for me because I think I am a carb addict… so hopefully I am getting this under control.

The most important thing for me is to realize and accept that this is a long term effort. If I can continue to lose 1/2 - 1 lb per week…I will be very happy by the end of the year.

Review of diettogo.com food: The dinners are okay, the lunches are barely okay. We did a sample week and will not be signing up for more. I was so looking forward to not have to cook but having healthy meals…darn it!

H and S had pizza tonight, and I had a big salad with leftover filet mignon on top. Yay me! This must be serious.

Good for you, JustaMom! I love salad with a bit of beef, too.

Yay JustaMom.

I think the protein bars may be more calories than what people may want.
1 8oz jar of honey
1 small jar of peanut butter
2 scoops vanilla protein powder
2 cups chex mix crushed
microwave the honey and peanut butter about 45 seconds then mix all the ingredients together and put in a brownie pan and spread.
My friend who gave me the recipe also substitutes oatmeal for the chex.

What I find is it is sweet enough that a small amount will do and it also keeps me satisfied and full for some reason. So although I dont eat a big piece it is enough to tide me over. so the calories are about the same as a cookie I think but better nutrition and have that lasting stave off craving effect.
I ran into a woman who I see in the summers, she has lost weight and did through exersize and drastically decreasing carbs, she looks great!

A piece of turkey jerky is the best protein bar. Ever! :)

My diet tip of the day: if you want to lose weight, stay out of Napa. And Sonoma, too.

The last day of the holiday weekend - I’m exhausted and while the food was good, my tummy/waistline feels blah! Lots of grocery shopping, cooking, eating, celebrating, etc. Yuck, I almost can’t wait to get back to a regular routine tomorrow and get back on a better eating schedule. Feeling sluggish and bloated after too many treats! I can’t say I overendulged, but def had more sweets than usual.

Part of me just wants to lay down and sleep till morning! Gonna try and make myself get outside and pull weeds for a half hour or so…

Lots of food but for the most part I feel like I am doing okay. I am better able to moderate myself.
Still have a beach bbq this afternoon.

This morning I got up late, and went to the kitchen intending to make an omelet using leftover steamed broccolini and roasted red peppers (lots of vegetables around here these days). Unfortunately, we were out of eggs. So I had leftover chicken and coleslaw instead.

Crab-stuffed portobellos for dinner, with spaghetti squash and a big salad.

I’d like to hear how you make the crab stuffed portobellos!
