Oh, no, snowball, hope things settle down for you and you can stop all that (calorie-free) stress eating!

PackMom, I can totally relate, I have shopped twice for new shorts this season and have a big wardrobe now of shorts that are too big. I’ve given up and am just wearing my baggy ones until next year because I need to save my money for new fall clothes. We should have a big clothing exchange. I’m wearing a baggy pair of white knee-length Jag jeans shorts, size 6, anyone want them? I want to lose 3-4 more pounds then I’ll need stuff like new black pants and other basics.

worknprogress2- I tried to send you a PM, but your box is full. I will post my reply here; sorry to everyone else this is off topic.

My dad did get the combo unit with the defibrillator. It seems he doesn’t “need” the defibrillator at the moment, but most likely down the road. Due to the fact that my dad’s heart is in such poor shape, I think the backside is 90% dead, I am not sure how long this will work for him. The hope is he will get about a 50% improvement, so that is something. His heart rate hovers in the low to mid 40’s, sometimes getting to the low 50’s. If he can go along day to day without getting winded, and the fluid around his ankles goes away, I will call that progress.

He had the procedure on Tuesday and on Friday he ended up calling the doctor’s office because he was sore under his arm and his arm was bruised; not black and blue, just black!! The nurse said just wait and see what it looks like by Monday!! My mother said she couldn’t imagine where it could go from black as it looked horrible now. He just wanted to make sure the coloring and pain was normal as no one mentioned it before. They have him wearing a sling to bed so that he will not put his arm above his head. He usually sleeps on his side, so isn’t sleeping as well; instead he heads to his recliner and he sleeps just fine there!!

The biggest surprise was how much the Pacemaker bulges out. The nurse said that was because this unit was larger but when the swelling went down, it would look better. I guess he will not be posing for Playgirl magazine in the future ;)

worknprogress, Coke does help an upset stomach, or a queasy feeling! I think that under those circumstances, Coke should be calorie-free!

Speaking of calories, it is astounding how few calories are in vegetables. I’ve increased my vegetable intake, and entering them in MyPlate sometimes gives calorie counts under 10! If only a few other categories could be so low in calories…

^^yeah,like ice cream!
Sorry Izzie, not down to size 6 so I can’t take those shorts off your hands. I have pants in four different sizes in my closet. It drives me nuts to have my closet packed with stuff I can’t wear but I’m really hesitant to toss it.

I keep my clothes nearly FOREVER or at least for decades whether I wear them or not. Yesterday, I came to the realization that five years ago I was about the same size I am now, but I weighed five pounds MORE! And about thirty years ago, I was about the same size but weighed over TEN pounds MORE.

Could this be? Has this happened to you? I walk briskly an average of seven hours per week, but I must admit that I’m fluffier than I was when I was younger, esp. post-menopause. And does this mean that I’ll have to lose about 1/2 pound per year to fit into my clothes? Of course, with all the spandex woven into my newer jeans I should be able to fit into them forever regardless of my size. . .

Lots of changes and substitutions; the major one was making it open-faced, eliminating 2 slices of bread.

As suggested in reviews, I mashed the white beans with lemon, garlic, salt, pepper, and a little olive oil. I spread it on 8 slices of Ezekiel bread, cut off the crusts, and cut each slice in quarters. Then I added thinly sliced cucumbers, thinly sliced red onion, crumbled bacon, tomato, and topped with a tsp of guacamole (I didn’t have avocado). They were delicious and filling, probably better as lunch than appetizers. DH ate them, and then decided not to have dinner.

NYMomof2, that looks like a great recipe. I’ve found that anything sprouts have the least carbs. I need to learn how to sprout things. I had an open face bacon/tomato sandwich today. It was a delicious low carb food that I enjoyed eating. The tomatoes were from my garden. Yummy!

Those do look good. Part of the reason I can’t wear the same size as when I was younger is because my bones got stretched apart by childrearing. I only ran in my 20’s so I think overall I was less muscular as well.

Garden tomatoes are the best! I did not use the sprouts because I hate them. I haven’t entered the recipe into MyPlate yet, but I expect the nutritional profile to be pretty good.

Yes! I see pictures of my late 20s/early 30s pre-kid runner-self and I had NO upper body mass. I remember going for a job interview after 6 years of being home with kids. I was about the same weight as pre-kids, but I could not even get my shoulders in my blazer because I had started swimming and weight-lifting- not to mention the whole wider bones from having kids stuff.

^^Same here. I also blame the all the spreading of my torso & stomach plus the deterioration of my formerly superb mind on my wife’s pregnancy/childrearing.

I’ve put in the effort to lose weight but refuse to color my short dark hair w/ gray creeping in all over. I earned it.

Can we blame cellulite on childbirth too?

We went to Moe’s Southwest grill for dinner. I got the veggie burrito without the wrap, drank water and did not eat even one tortilla chip even though DH was crunching away.
I call that a victory.

Dang it, coureur, I guess my H is not the only one blaming his stomach expansion on… Those pregnancy cravings… The stuff I craved somehow always came in a multi-pack. :)

Cellulite? Absolutely!!! And the stretch marks. ;)

I think we should have a CC ladies’ clothes swap.

Ok, NEED to have a good week here! I swear, summer is the worst eating time for me! Too many events, family get togethers, time out of town (away from a selection of food from the refrig), etc!!! Took a last minute trip to our cottage this weekend - didn’t have time to grocery shop and had limited fruits and veggies at home to take - I felt like “white” carbs were staring me in the face all weekend!!! By the end of the weekend they looked YUCK!!!

Next weekend is a planned trip to Chicago to visit friends - I know full well that we will eat well that weekend (or NOT well, depending how you look at it!). A dinner out at a favorite mexican place is planned for Friday night and a trip into the city ALWAYS means a stop at Ghiaridelli’s. I am not going to deny myself these, but told myself I need to adhere to a really good week M-Th in preparation for F-Sunday!

Game plan includes to go low carb, LOTS of veggies and lots of water to flush system out. This morning I packed some stuff to take with me to work that will be tasty, satisfying but hopefully fitting that plan : an egg with a little shredded cheese, blueberries and skim milk and a small container of trail mix (homemade) that is largely nuts.

Am going to be looking for some easy dinners that I can adjust for me, but still satisfy my family (kids). I’m thinking of some lettuce wraps - protein inside. A BLT one sounds good! Any one else have some lettuce wrap ideas???
