Weight Loss for Dummies

Ouch!! Feel better!

I’ve fallen off the dieting wagon. Will get back on. Really. I tried on new exercise clothes today. That was not a pretty sight.

Jym - you will be fine. Just get back with the plan!!!

I still have the mindset- just too many “interruptions” (like this weekend’s winery and chocolate pairing tour!) Sorry, but that ws entirely too much fun!

give yourself permission for the occasional failing and get back on jym626…

I got good news from my cardiologist today, think it’s related to weight loss and exercise. feel good…

Myturnnow- great news on the Dr. I knew I had made a change for the better when I recently had surgery and the Dr who did the surgery commented at my post op visit that the surgery and post op was going so well since I was so healthy and thin. This was a new Dr for me and did not know that 15 months earlier I had weighed 30 lbs more.
WNP- Oh, No. I had a pars stress fracture and it was so frustrating to not be able to do everything I wanted to do. I find it difficult to know when to cut back on exercise to let an injury heal versus playing through the pain with the hope that I am not making it any worse.

Against my better judgment (because I’ve still got the monthly bloat), I got on the scale today. Down another 1.5! Woohoo! Thanks, y’all.

I don’t look at the scale anymore, just go by my waist size. My pants are a little loose these days, I need to go shopping for a new size. I usually order clothes online so I don’t know what fits me anymore.

I weighed in this morning. It wasn’t as bad as I anticipated but need to stay the track.

Yay! (At least according to my old scale) I am down 25 pounds since the original weight loss thread was started.

And here’s my complaint about US made products. That old scale may be hard to read and it’s in kilos, but I’ve had it over 20 years it has survived two moves. My new scale broke after two weeks.

Yesterday started out good, finally starting to drop again (only half a pound) but ended bad when we went to Harry Potter and got popcorn. I probably ate a third of my normal amount but twice what I should have. Maybe I won’t weigh in today…

My scale is my Wii Fit since it tracks me. The bad part is every day it cheerfully announces, “You’re obese!”. I want to punch it in it’s smiley little scale face.

Oh, Marilyn, I would tell it, “I might be obese, but I can still unplug your ass!”

LOL, Marilyn! Look on the bright side…at least it’s not saying that you’re “morbidly obese”…

congrats, mathmom!

Perfect comeback, Youdon’tsay! Of course, the device is incapable of feeling bested… What is the next greeting, Marilyn, once you’re out of the “obese” range - “You’re overweight!”??

I got on the scale this morning because I could tell that my midsection had shrunk. I’m down 2 lbs since 5 days ago! Of course, that reading was the same as it had been for 2-3 weeks, and I was worrying that I’d hit a plateau. My overall loss is 7 lbs in 5.5 weeks. I am probably going up and down wildly day by day. Someone on the other thread weighs every day and tracks a moving average. This would drive me crazy, though.

jym, get back on track! I’ve had bad days, and I’ve eaten something I “shouldn’t” almost every day, but I’m still losing steadily because, overall, my eating habits are greatly improved. Our philosophy here is that we are doing fine as long as the trend is good, right?

Great job, mathmom!

That’s my philosophy. I had an ice cream cone yesterday and still stayed under my calorie goal (by 10 calories!).

Marilyn- if you can ever get on a device that makes that announcement in an upbeat voice, you are a stronger woman than I. I’d have to disable that feature. Having been in a maintenance phase for awhile now, there is a bit of inevitable daily variation. I agree it’s a matter of watching trends. That’s why some people weigh themselves once a week or less. That said, it is a good reality check for me-sometimes I think I am “way up” and I’m not. I’m glad that people are eating how they like to eat on this thread. It is the difference between losing weight and keeping it off.

That had me laughing out loud, Marilyn! I always feel badly about myself when my navigator says “recalculating”. Is it just me or does she sound disappointed and a little annoyed?

The Wii Fit makes you weigh in before you start exercising, and no options to turn off the message. Yes, the next category down is merely “overweight”. :o I usually do the shortcut measure but every now and then I do the longer one with the balance test. It then tells you your “age” based on that - I don’t think I’ve ever been up to my regular age and have been as much as 35 years younger! So there are some warm fuzzies…

Correction from before - I think it actually says “that’s obese” instead of “you’re obese”. If that’s any better.

Now if I could just get it stop its incredulous note of surprise when I meet a weight goal ahead of schedule.

^^^
Somebody needs to teach that thing some manners!

Thanks for the warning dear, internet friends. I bought a Wii fit some weeks ago…
