I can do Cheerios:).

Bumping the thread…where is everyone?

Eating conference food!

Actually at a low weight this morning, so hope I’m not doing myself in too much.

Oh Thank goodness. I thought I was all alone here!

I had a yummy snack today. Chobani fat-free pineapple yogurt with a bit of granola. It tasted like pineapple cheesecake.

I made the pureed cauliflower tonight, and it was wonderful! I cooked the florets in vegetable broth with a couple of garlic cloves thrown in, pureed it with an immersion blender, added plain nonfat Greek yogurt and some horseradish (arabrab’s suggestion, I think). Everyone liked it, even though DH and DS2 were initially reluctant to try it. Once they did, they had more.

I also made a nice vegetarian main dish. I cooked quinoa (Bob’s Red Mill) in vegetable broth, added it to chopped onions sauteed in olive oil, added two cans of drained and rinsed black beans, a lot of chopped cilantro, some Trader Joe’s salsa verde, and some Trader Joe’s shredded light Mexican mixed cheese. Heated through, it was great.

I’m here, but other than still losing weight over last weekend, I have nothing new to report. I’m eating a lot of caprese salads; don’t know if I’ll keep it up once there are no more fresh tomatoes! I have very little variety in my diet - no exciting recipes!

My challenges will be next week - DH is going in for hip replacement surgery next Wednesday - we live in the suburbs and the hospital is in the big city, so I’ll either be eating hospital or fast food for three days. Instead of my nice HB eggs and cottage cheese and fruit. Maybe if the weather cooperates, I’ll get in some walks along the lakefront or river. I hate driving in and out of the city! But I’m still better off that poor hubby!

I’m here! Eating dinner as we speak. 2 eggs sunny side up, a slice of toast, a glass of water and a glass of zin. Big bowl of blueberries for dessert.

The doctor confirmed that I have frozen shoulder . . .again. Other side this time, but I have no patience for a condition that I cannot bully into submission. This means more PT, lots of ice and tylenol and more nights of interrupted sleep. Last time it took over a year to resolve. This does mean I can start my exercise routine as long as it involves nothing that means lifting my left arm over my head or behind my back. It can bear weight, but not as much as usual, and I can pretty much only handle curls, which require a limited range of motion. Not sure I could even do a plank at this point, modified or otherwise. So, I think my best bet will be to keep watching my food intake religiously and start a cardio routine that will at least get movement back in my life. I’m finding that 3-5 small meals, with limited unregulated snacking is at least keeping things stable. I’m hoping if I add some exercise it will start to nudge the scale numbers down. Slow is a very fine speed, as long as it is steady!

I want to eat NYMom’s quinoa dish! OMG that sounds just like ME!!!

Was out of town a couple of days this week and leaving again tonight for a couple of days - it is harder to eat well, but I haven’t done too bad! If I have foods that are normally more “forbidden” I just try to have smaller portions. We went to Buca Di Beppo the other night - as a group we ordered fried mozzerella on a bed of sauce, caesar salad, baked ziti and a lobster pizza. Whoa. I did eat a portion of the fried mozzerella (and enjoyed EVERY bite!), had a good amount of salad (not dressed heavily) just a small amount of baked ziti and two small squares of the lobster pizza (it’a a cracker type crust). Oh, and we ordered fresh cannoli to take with us back to the hotel - just had two bites and I had enough!

Off to our cottage - at least there I can get lots of good walks on the beach!

Marilyn, good luck to your DH. My DH has had two hip replacements and is thrilled that this surgery exists. His pain will be gone as soon as he wakes up in recovery. And, while he’s got to go through the recovery – no crossing of legs, no bending the thigh at a 90 degree angle, hello high toilet seat – he will have an entirely new lease on life.

Good wishes to your DH, Marilyn and to you for finding something you can eat at the hospital.

Down another pound. For lunch today I had leftovers from last night’s dinner…roasted chicken breast rubbed with olive oil and sprinkled with Montreal Chicken seasoning (love that stuff), garden peas, fat free cottage cheese w/ some cut up cantaloupe and a few almonds.

Anybody have experience with the “maintaining” stage yet? I need advice. I think I’m there but don’t want to add too much back into diet for fear of gaining. I have bought some smaller clothes and don’t want to gain back and not fit them but don’t really need to keep losing a lot either.

Thanks all for the support - yes, DH knows it’s the right time. It’s not a constant pain but is now affecting his workouts, chores, walking, etc. My mom had it done a couple of years ago so we borrowed all her equipment; nice savings!

On a positive note, first thing this morning my Wii Fit weigh-in shows another pound down; have now lost my second 5 lbs! Like sryrstress:
although I do wear a very thin cotton nightie, light as air. Then I go back later in the day to exercise.

I tried adding a handful of almonds every day but think I’m allergic to them - never had a problem with the occasional almond but apparently it’s an issue in quantity. It’s an odd allergy - I start developing an itchy rash on my neck on one side! The same thing happened with fish oil pills and Loveta. Now I’m eating pistachios in the shell and so far no problem.

Ooh - pistachios are good nuts!

I eat a lot of pistachios - unfortunately my daughter is allergic to them so I have to be fairly careful with shells, etc. Nuts are great but some people do have allergies to them, both mild and severe.

I haven’t been posting because I am stuck at the same weight and have been for many days. I’ve been monitoring my sodium intake and how it affects my weight. I’m hoping tomorrow to be back down to my low since starting WLFD.

I’m going to save NYmomof2’s recipe for puree cauliflower for Thanksgiving. Right now I like to eat them slightly raw and crunchy for fiber.
I’ve read all the nuts are superfood, pistachios have the most in calories. Brazil nuts have the least carbs.

Anybody been keeping track of their blood pressure while losing weight? I started this diet 6 months ago today and just happened to take my blood pressure at the WalMart this morning and it was 91/57. That seems awfully low. I hadn’t eaten much because we don’t have much food because we are leaving on vacation tomorrow. I’ve been eating salty stuff and drinking a lot of water and I will check it again next time I see a machine.

Despite being so overweight I’ve always had pretty good blood pressure. It’s my heart rate that worried me. Today at the dentist my BP was 104/68 with a HR of 74!

I don’t know what a good heart rate is. Mine was 85 but I was power shopping trying to get my son equipped to go back to school in 45 minutes.

Just saw this-The Cheesecake Factory is launching its new SkinnyLicious menu of 40 items that include everything from entrees to desserts and meet strict calorie guidelines. The tall, thin menu is separate from its traditional main menu.
