Weight of mid-year report?

I apologize in advance if this question is common, I’m new to CC :P

I was wondering if anyone on CC (people who have worked in admissions, or current students) knows how much weight is placed on the mid-year report.

I’m asking because although I got straight A’s in Quarter 1 with 5 AP clases, I struggled during Quarter 2 (getting Bs in AP Calc and Physics), causing my rank to drop quite a lot. I’m afraid this comes off as a severe case of senioritis, even though the truth is…I worked really hard but was just overwhelmed with school, college apps and ECs.

So…have any students gotten in with a lackluster mid-year report?
(And I know applications are reviewed “holistically”, but still.) :)

All colleges want to see upwards trends in mid-year reports. Given your Q2 struggle, it’s very hard to predict a solid outcome. Much depends on other “soft” factors, such as character and teacher recommendations – Bottom Line: “no se puede decir.”

Thanks for the input. On a side note, does Harvard recalculate GPA, taking into account the rigor of senior year schedules?
