Weight of TASP/USAMO/RSI

Exactly how much will a top 25 school place emphasis on any of these three things- say on someone who’s GPA is ~3.8 with a high (2300+)SAT and barely above avg. ECs with a <10% class rank? Say for example TASP+USAMO or RSI+USAMO or just one out of the three? Like- will they prefer that type of student over the average applicant to a top 25?

Similar question:

Would a 2390, 3 800’s, and TASP make up for a 3.6 GPA?

I’m pretty sure you’d get in with a 2300+ alone.

The thing with it though is that most colleges see these all as like science fair- - - except like CalTech/MIT.

I believe what both of us mean are basically HYPS whether or not they’d overlook a 3.6-3.9 UW GPA/not top 1% class rank/2300+ SAT if we had TASP/RSI/USAMO on our application… and whether you’d prefer it over a 4.0 UW/top 1%/2300 no TASP/RSI/USAMO

I don’t think it would make a school overlook a low gpa, but I think they are a considerable boost for otherwise qualified candidates.

Let’s say one gets a 3.8UW 2350SAT Moderately above avg. ECs and good AP Scores with TASP or USAMO or both or RSI/USAMO or RSI+USAMO… would this be appealing to HYPS? Enough to take the student in?
I guess sort of an opinion thread.

It’s a good start but you they want to know you’re more than just another strong math mind. If this is accompanied by some leadership, a sport or two, something to show you’re interesting and will do more on campus than be brilliant in math classes, you’re golden.

if you have a 3.8, 2350, above avg EC’s, good AP scores, RSI, and TASP, you have a VERY good chance at whichever school you wish.

There is no definite chance for a top 25 school. TASP/USAMO/RSI will boost your chances for anywhere, but it will not make up for a lower end GPA or EC list. However, they are known to be the type of ECs that require tremendous amounts of commitment and dedication. Therefore, if you have what it takes to make it into 2 of these programs, you will certainly have the qualities they look for in a potential college applicant.

I don’t know anyone who went to both and he’s not claiming to have gone to either yet!
