I’m looking at the lenovo thinkpads right now for college, and I’m debating between the X200 and the T400. I’m about 5’3’', 100 lbs, so I want something that’s really portable. How heavy are we talking for each of these computers? Is the extra $500 or so for the X200 worth it?

Given your height, build, and preference for portability, I would definitely choose the X200 over the T400. According to Notebookreview, the X200 weighs 3.24 pounds with a six-cell battery. By contrast, the T400 weighs 5.48 pounds with a six-cell battery. 2.24 pounds may not seem like a lot, but imagine thinking that after lugging the difference around for a whole day!

It’s not all about weight, the 200 doesn’t have an optical drive in it. If you would need one it would be better to get the T400 that has the optical drive.

Depends on if you need the optical drive while away from your dorm room. Get a docking station for the dorm with all the devices hooked up to it.
