When is the most appropriate time to start weight training?
Gender: Male
Age:15 (but freshmen this fall)
Height: 5’ 10 1/2
Weight" 152lb

some say when you weight train you won’t grow bc of the muscles.
What do you think? (for me, I do push up for weight trains now and I do have few amount of muscles, well, I swim and other things)
I can’t believe those seniors who have big muscles -__-

It’s not that you might stunt growth, it’s that teens have radically different nutrient needs and physiques than the average adult gym member.

I personally think that that’s just a myth. You probably should worry more about joint development and muscular issues (things you’d worry about in any competitive sport), as well as your nutritional needs. Most teens who start weight training often lack diet and training structure, which leads to poor form, inadequate results, and injury. You should also be wary of supplements, at least for the first few weeks while you establish nutritional and training regiments, because from what I’ve observed some people overdo them and think that they’ll replace a good meal with pills and powder.

So there’s nothing wrong with lifting now, as long as you’re adequately informed. Although if I were you I’d stay away from 4 day/wk workouts and other high-intensity workouts, at least for now.
