I missed the Housing tours and talks during the Recruitment Weekend, could anyone who was there give me an idea of what is available to single graduate students? The information on the website and the information in the packet they gave us doesn’t really agree, as there were extra listings in our packets but it doesn’t comment on which housing other than studios are only family housing. Thanks!

Why don’t you contact the housing office? There might not be a strict separation between single housing and family housing. For example, the online Lasdon House description says it has “studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom residences, designed to be comfortably shared by families or roommate groups.”

Just out of curiosity, would you get input into your housing arrangement at all? The online housing application only asks how many people you need housing for, not where you want to live.

That’s another thing I’m not sure about. The price of the various buildings varies, and I would assume you have some ability to specify if you want to share a 2 bedroom with 2 people or a 1 bedroom with 2 people. I emailed the housing office and they haven’t been too helpful. The WCMC housing department told me they don’t control which graduate students live in Sloan House versus the WCMC housing, and just told me that the cheapest was Lasdon House. However, the paper work they gave us at Recruitment has other options listed for cheaper. Since I’m likely going to move in this summer for my first rotation, I’m hoping to get an idea of what I’d be paying on-campus so I can see if I have better off-campus options with friends.
