This one class I’m trying to register for says that the discussion component is open and that it has 3 spots reserved for undergrads, not honors, just undergrads. I tried to register but it says that the section is closed. I don’t get it, I’m a sophomore so that’s an undergrad, doesn’t that mean I can register?

Which class is it? Maybe it’s freshman or by permission of instructor? Or, like my Spanish course closed even though there’s open seats?

It’s Polsci 389 sec. 10 (20th Century Russia). It just says reserved for undergrads. Not anything specific like honors or juniors or anything like that.

There could have been a waitlist of some sort. In that case, even if spots open up, the class will be closed until the relevant department has confirmed with the people at the top of the waitlist that they are not taking the class. You can probably just e-mail whoever is in charge of PolySci student services and ask if there was a waitlist, or if you can get an override into the class.
