Weird Diane Keaton/ Kyle Richards story- should there be consequences for viral posts?

So, they both got into posting identifiable info about a woman with very long black nails, that sent people into a tizzy trying to track down a “psychic” that may have been in possession of possible stolen property. I am not a litigious person but I would be very angry about my privacy being invaded in this manner. I am clearly trying to distract myself from all the more serious issues at hand. But, this story piqued my interest as I often see less than flattering pictures/stories of people posted on different social media platforms, most probably without permission.

I have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you have a link to a story?

Same here, @Nrdsb4 - no idea what @sevmom is referring to.

I haven’t heard this story. But Kyle Richards is on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

Her house was burglarized and many celebrity homes were victims of a burglary ring.

So I’m guessing that Diane Keaton and Kyle were talking about this on Twitter

There was a story about this on Inside Edition yesterday. Lots of info out there - Google Diana French( the "psychic who wants an apology), Kyle Richards, or Diane Keaton. It’s just a strange story that caught my attention for some reason.

That is a weird story and I see why it caught your interest…IMO, it’s because celebs using their wide social media reach have, it looks like, invaded a woman’s privacy and caused her to have to defend ownership of her own jewelry. Of course, we have no idea who is telling the truth.

I think the moral of the story is, ANY picture that you let someone else take of you (like in this case, Diane Keaton supposedly took and posted a pic of this womans hands and posted it), or any pic that you yourself post or share online, you NEVER know where it is going to go.

The weird part to me is also that allegedly Diane Keaton posted that the woman was a “psychic” and Kyle Richards went around town looking for and asking people about a “psyvhic” with long black fingernails, trying to track her down . The woman and her granddaughter say she is actually a pharmacy clerk, not a psychic, so the whole story is just strange.

I lurk on Diane Keaton’s Instagram and remembered the photo. She posts a lot of nail art. Her daughter seems really into it. I don’t follow any of the real housewives. Maybe someday.

Perhaps the Instagram caption was deliberately misleading? Its a nice caption that disguises the identity of the model.

When I found the story about the theft, my first thought was: is the ring a unique piece? Custom made, one of a kind?

My second thought, did the robbery victim communicate with Keaton before posting her plea?

I just saw the Instagram post. Diane Keaton calls the woman a fortune teller in the post. Kyle Richards says she made contact with Keaton and her agent when she was the post and was told the woman was a psychic in Santa Monica. The woman says she is not a psychic ,that she works in a pharmacy. Maybe she’s a fortune teller on the side. Just odd.

Is there any reason to believe the stolen ring was one of a kind?

Kyle Richards obviously thought so , but apparently not as unique as she thought it was.

Richards must know where her ring came from? If someone made it, she could find out if they made other rings like it before accusing someone of having stolen property? If it was purchased from a jewelry case in a store, one could assume there was more than one. If it is vintage (40 plus years old, as the accused claims) that becomes more difficult to figure out, but it’s still a leap to think you have the only one… contemporary artists copy older pieces all the time… imho. Different jewelry designs go in and out of style again and again.

As I said, I don’t know anything about Richards. Is this just a publicity stunt gone wrong?

This popped up on my newsfeed this morning (blush!) The only thing I will say is: the pharmacy assistant should not be allowed to be serving in the healthcare arena with those talons! They have to be very unsanitary.
Oh, and the ‘accused’ submitted ‘proof pics’ of herself wearing the ring 20+ years ago, so it’s unlikely to be Kyle Richards’ ring.

The picture by Diane Keaton was taken in 2019. Ms. French is currently retired I believe but has been described as working for many years in a pharmacy as either a clerk or tech, so not sure she would have been handling pills directly, but that is unclear depending on what her role actually was. She wants an apology from the other parties involved.

I do think she should receive an apology (at the bare minimum); she has been shamed, embarrassed and falsely accused. And those nails!!!

Too much free time following Daily mail and Housewives here too. When Kyle was robbed they got jewelry left to her by her mother (also an obscene number of designer bags.) The post I saw by KR was asking if anyone was familiar with the woman, she’d love to get more info about the ring and origins, and would love to buy it back if it happened to have been hers.

There was reportedly a social media post by the woman’s teen granddaughter, saying that’s my grandma, she’s had the ring for ages, and maybe posted a picture from her elementary graduation.

I’m not sure where all the shaming, embarassment and false accusations come in? Calling her a psychic when she works in a pharmacy? Shaming over the really long nails? Accusations that she stole it, or wondering about it?

I don’t think the ring is attractive and don’t follow old jewelry trends, but really wonder how many are still in circulation and actively worn? If I’d lost that ring and saw a recent picture of one in the same city, I’d be wondering about it too.

Not a KR fan at all, but really don’t understand why it is such a big deal.
