Weird (perhaps good?) situation!

All right.

So, I have been in contact with Adrienne Keene, the Native American undergraduate recruiter at Stanford, for much of the admissions process. We have been corresponding strictly via email until (perhaps) tonight.

Okay, so I had been in contact with Ms. Keene recently about this IHS scholarship program that she is going to write a letter for (just verifying that I had applied). They have been having some trouble with the scanner in the admissions office, so she was going to take home this letter and email it back to me soon. I sent back another email saying this is perfect and then my parents and I went out to dinner.

Then, quite randomly, I got a call from a “408” number and oddly nobody answered on the other end. The number didn’t call again and, because my phone just stopped working (***??), I can’t try the number again (because I changed SIM cards with my mom and the numbers didn’t save). Lol, it’s ridiculous! S/he has still not tried me again, so I don’t know what’s up.

I looked up Adrienne Keene in CA (I know, I’m creepy, but desperate!) and found that she does, indeed, live in San Jose. AH! So now I am pretty sure it was her, but her number is “unpublished” (this would happen!).

Again, I have not spoken with her on the phone AT ALL and I highly doubt it would be something to do with an application “problem” this late in the game and it’s just so ironic that this number would call right after the first time I mentioned my anxiousness for the Stanford decision.

Also, I don’t know why she wouldn’t have just sent me an email if it were something to do with the scholarship.

I definitely know that I should not get my hopes up, but do any of you have ideas of what this could be? Sorry this is so long, I’m just trying to get some input, my parents don’t want to talk about it! haha. :D!

…it could also have just been a coincidental wrong number.

relax first and then email her, asking if she had called by any chance. and then go from there.

Yeah, that’s what I did. But it was just such a coincidence…I know NO ONE from San Jose and she just happens to live there (and was talking about going home tonight to scan something for me). Whatever. I guess I just have to wait.

Hey I actually heard that Stanford is trying to cut down on their carbon footprint this year so instead of mailing out denial letters, they’re calling people. Since Stanford is super close to San Jose, I wonder if that’s what the call was about?

Don’t mean to burst your bubble (and i could totally be wrong) but I think they send you a big packet if you’re admitted and calls are actually denials.

OMG good luck!

^They just don’t send anything to rejects. They’re e-mailed like everyone else (no call) but just don’t get a huge packet.

I think stoked4college is just a nasty ■■■■■.

Good luck, dpattz! I bet you get in.

Lol, this wasn’t even from Stanford, it was from my friend (in FL) calling from an Apple store on an iPhone because she was bored…haha, how ironic. It’s also strange that the phone still had a 408 area code.

Nasty ■■■■■?

No need to toss out (admittedly weak) insults. We’re all just bright eyed college hopefuls here trying to share the knowledge wealth.

Also, what exactly are you onthebrink of? Getting a pair of balls?

Next time you toss out insults, you may want to kick it up a few notches.

I didn’t intend to insult you; I intended to reassure dpattzlover. Congrats dpattz, by the way, on your acceptance!

^^Thanks! I was in absolute shock last night; I am so excited for Admit Weekend!

I think this is your tenth/fifteenth time saying that you were in close contact with the native american lady at stanford. congrats, but its kinda redundant

I made this thread 2 weeks ago, why are you reading it now?
And I was just trying to figure out why she would be calling me, but since then I’ve found out it was just my friend calling me from an iPhone at an Apple Store. I can’t delete the post? What else am I supposed to do?

Don’t let them get to you. Congratulations on getting into Stanford!
