It’s intriguing because it doesn’t consider selectivity, nor SSAT scores. It weighs factors in an unusual way. If a school didn’t submit data, it assumes it’s at the average.

Hmm, I don’t understand this. If a school does not submit data, the data from the school would be marked as a null value when calculating the average… In this case a school which does not submit any data is considered in between the schools which DID submit data? Sounds a bit odd to me.

I know at least one of the subject schools that was defaulted to “average” was never contacted by BM

and the data they wanted for that school was also readily available in Prep School guidebooks . . but the “reporters” did not do that work

That aside, it was useful to get BUA and Commonwealth into the public’s eye; their relative rank is questionable, but for the right kid they might be great

There’s also a pre-existing CC thread on this topic

For another perspective, here is Lvillegrad’s ranking of selected MA schools by placement in top colleges (sorted by MATRIC top index). See matriculationstats.org for more complete data, methodology, and terminology. As with any ranking, interpret with care and use only within a more holistic, personalized evaluation of schools. Several schools mentioned in this thread do not currently appear in Lvillegrad’s ranking (possibly due to incomplete placement data).
