My friend got accepted into Cornell, NYU, (Columbia waitlist) and NOT UC Irvine - that’s insane.
I’m sure there are a lot more other surprising stories out there.

my friend got accepted to UCB and UCLA but not UCI</p>
<p>she actually really WANTS to go to UCI and appealed (she has a beach house in newport). she has reconsidered and doesn’t want to go all the way to New York anymore.</p>
<p>she has high SAT (1480) but so-so GPA.</p>
<p>My friend got accepted to Harvard, Columbia, NYU, Georgetown, and the University of Texas…but NOT Southern Methodist University! She framed the letter.</p>
