Weird Stuff Your Kids Bring Home...

Hah. I thought this thread was going to be about “things”. My kids were both the sort that picked up odds & ends on their walks to/form school. They still pick do. Older one now likes rodents…pet rats, hamsters, etc, so I never know what furry caged creatures will be coming home with her when she comes home for more than a 2 night stay.

EK - yup, only 2. Her coworker, however, brought an “army” of 6 or 7 kitties back home.

HImom, They may not be fans, but I’ll bet they know it. Friends of ours from Boston made “What the Sox say” photo Xmas cards, complete with beards. I liked Gangnam Style better than the fox. (Do not like the cat.)

I sent the Fox link to my kids back in September. I keep up with current trends by watching Ellen. My kids have Norwegian heritage, so they get it.

I had heard people reference the fox song several times and then they had the band on the Today show on one of my days off and the light bulb went off… THIS is what they were talking about! The same day, at the Homecoming parade, one of the floats was blasting that song throughout the parade. So I heard it twice in one day. It took days to get it out of my head. I am trying to avoid hearing it ever again!

For me, it is primarily phrases such as “it’s a thing” “Is that a thing?” It sounds so ridiculous, but it makes perfect sense in the right context.

My daughter does introduce me to good music a lot of the time.

Long before Lorde became a radio sensation, baby kiddo had sent me a link to an audio file posted on some little known site. “Mom, I thought you would like this!” Yup, I liked the song. :)

Okay – gonna have to ask expatSon if he knows WDTFS. Wish I had thought of it last night when his friends were over for New Year’s.
