My kids (who live on different coasts and haven’t seen each other in months) bring the weirdest stuff into my life when they come home… tonight a fox ran across the road in front of our car, and both spontaneously burst into song: “What does the fox say?” Younger one says this is VERY popular on her campus now, and send me this link:

Guess my life would be dull if they didn’t introduce me to new things… what have your kids brought to your attention lately that you wouldn’t have known about otherwise?

My 3 year old grandson LOVES that song! (I felt like I was out of the loop when son & grandson were cracking inside jokes about “what does the fox say”, but they were kind enough to explain it to me and help me find the video online)

This is better.

We spent xmas in Ds college town, cause she was watching her roommates cat, and we came home with boxes and boxes of books (& shoes).
In February we are going up again to get more stuff. ( she is graduating this year)
I don’t think it is going to fit in her room.

Our S acquired A LOT of TVs (those HUGE, heavy ones), because they were cheap or free at the end of the term. When he learned that no one was interested, he quickly sold them at very low prices, after lugging them around in several moves over the summer. Thankfully, he didn’t bring them home.

My kids are learning how to play Kendama, which is a wooden handle, string and wooden ball craze that is popular in our state–Santa brought them those, so that doesn’t qualify as something that was brought by them. ;)

I like the SNL version better too. The other one is too odd for me.

I just woke up poor mr iguana (2am here) to share the fox song. He knows it already. I never have anything new. Sheesh.

Okay, mine brings home strange dances. Not even kidding. This break it’s this odd little self congratulatory happy dance combined with a few boxer punches. It shows up randomly. In the kitchen, walking across the family room. It makes him happy. I think I’ll be sad when he decides he’s too old to do this.

When I told my oldest that my youngest wanted to be a fox for Halloween, his response was “What Does the Fox Say”. Until then, I had never heard of it and wondered what he was talking about. Since then, I have learned that everyone under the age of 30 knows the whole thing by heart.

Without my kids, I’d be so out of the loop. Because of them I have Facebook, Instagram, googleplus, Twitter and my least favorite: Snapchat. But I can’t not use them or I wouldn’t have access to their lives.

I make my son give me a Momlist (playlist) of new music (just got vol 2 for Christmas!). Without him I’d really be out of the loop. Some I like, some I don’t but at least I’ve heard of it.

My D makes me a Mom playlist every Christmas, too. It’s mostly new stuff, but not necessarily what you’d hear on the radio (only 2 big hits on it are “I Don’t Care” and “Royals.”) Knew those two, of course, but happy to own them. And then a lot of stuff that doesn’t get airplay (at least in the NY radio area, which has a dearth of alt.music outlets.) so-- new to me!

Man, when me and my brother burst into that song for the first time, my mom didn’t know how to react! (Of course when you hear that song, you must dance. ;)) Now, she knows to wait us out. lol Some people think it’s the most annoying song of this year, but it was alarm clock this past semester and had me dancing out of bed every morning! :D

I had never heard of ‘What does the Fox Say’ until my son’s school did a take off of it. Come to find out a lot of colleges did one - they just substituted their school’s mascot for Fox.

Our D made H a lovely playlist the other Christmas, full of songs she enjoyed and thought H would. It was perfect and he LOVES it! Requested that she make me one too–still waiting. She favors lyrical classic singers over much of the current stuff. Not sure if she knows Fox song–don’t think there are any fans of that in this house, but will ask them tonight.
