Title says it all…

1st half: all Steelers

2nd half: all Jets

The Jets stunk. They blew it right away. H was so disgusted he switched the channel well before half time and went to bed.

Wow,I’m originally from Pittsburgh and still go back there frequently. The Jets really gave the Steelers a scare. Feel bad for the Jets for coming back and getting so close but am relieved the Steelers won! On to the Super Bowl. I disagree with nysmile that the Jets stunk. They showed alot of class by not giving up and doing so well in the second half.

Boo: where were the Jets in the first half?

Jets wouldn’t have deserved to win even if they came back;
how do you give up 24 unanswered points, rush only 10 yards…
and expect to turn it around??..
I’m with nysmile’s husband; stupid game…

Boy, rodney and nysmile. You guys are harsh. Your guys took it to the end in somebody else’s house and you still don’t give the Jets any credit. This is typical CC stuff-unless there’s perfection, forget about it.

this one really hurt… we were so close…yet so far from the superbowl

I’m glad that the only socialist, community-owned team in football will go up against a team named after unionists.

sevmom, They’ve beaten them before in their house. The thing is: You can’t go out there at this level of competition (playoffs) and not play a sold FULL game. Their first half was terrible. Even their second half of the game wasn’t great–it just seemed so much better because their first half was beyond terrible.

Maybe I was harsh. IMO–they were undeniably dominated and outplayed by their opponent.

I suppose Jets fans have to say the same thing this year as every year—“Maybe next year.”

^typo----sold FULL game----->change to: solid FULL game :)

I just hope I don’t have to wait another 42 years til the Jets are in the Super Bowl again. At least I’m old enough to remember Super Bowl III, but too old to make it another 42 years. The first half was incredibly disappointing…DH, who played HS football, couldn’t believe the poor tackling.

Not a Jets fan,BUT they actually outplayed the Steelers…The Steelers were fortunate to take advantage of Jets mistakes in 1st half…Though I need to give credit to Steelers D ,as they stopped the run on many 4 th and short situations…The fumble by Sanchez late in the 1st half, was crucial…Very close whether his arm was moving forward, and if it was declared an incomplete pass, Jets would have done enough to win…They have no reason to be upset…and if you are going to criticize the Jets for playing only 1/2 a game, where were the steelers in 2nd half???

I agree with some of you – the Jets came awfully close to winning that game. As terribly as they played in the first half, one third-down defensive stop would have given them the ball with time on the clock and a real chance to win. The Steelers’ defense that was so dominating in the first half kind of lost its way in the second, at least outside the two yard-line. And the offense that was so great in the first half . . . let’s just say that neither of the Super Bowl teams looked like they could put together a full game this week.

On the fumble at the end of the first half: No one was discussing this on TV, but I thought it didn’t matter whether Sanchez’s arm was moving forward or not. If not, it was clearly a fumble. But if it was an attempted pass, and the ball went sideways or backwards, it would be a lateral, not an incomplete pass, and thus treated as a fumble too, unless it had been knocked backwards by a defensive player. The ball clearly went backwards a yard or so – it landed behind where Sanchez was standing when he was hit. And I don’t think the tackler batted the ball backwards – he hit Sanchez’s arm and Sanchez lost the ball. So I felt certain it was a fumble either way.

…“and if you are going to criticize the Jets for playing only 1/2 a game, where were the steelers in 2nd half???”

qdogpa: exactly why I started this thread; it was like the Jets were sleeping in the first half and the Steelers napped in the second…

agree with JHS; both super bowl teams better take it up a notch…neither amazing in my opinion

This makes the Superbowl easy for me–I always like the Packers (I like the old NFC teams best, and like Mini says, it’s the socialist team :)), and there’s no way I’m ever rooting for that sleazeball who’s besmirching the honor of a great organization (though there’s no doubt he’s a great quarterback.)

The Steelers are an old NFL team, too! They and the Colts moved over to the AFC after the two leagues merged.

True, I forgot. That just leaves the sleazeball factor.

I usually root for the team that beats my team (they must be that good to have beaten them, right?), but in this case I can’t get past the sleazeball factor either. Go Packers.

I make it a point not to root for rapists. Go Packers.
Oh, excuse me, “alleged” rapists.

Hey, hey, let’s not paint the entire Steelers lineup with the rapist brush. I wonder how good upstanding folks like Troy Polamalu feel about playing with aforementioned sleazeball.
