Part of Baruch. Does anyone know if it is any good? Does it have a good reputation?

Baruch is mainly best for the Zicklin business school. I think Weissman has a fair reputation and is a pretty good school depending on what you’re majoring in. There are less kids in the Weissman school than Zicklin so you can sort of say more individual attention is given to each student. I can vouch for the science department, the classes are small and the professors are very helpful and informative. There is also an assortment of programs in Weissman such as the Harman writer-in-residence, where a different distinguished author is brought into Baruch and they will teach one writing class.

What do you want to major in? What are you exactly looking for in Weissman?

well i was thinking pre-med but i don’t really know

well truth be told, its not like baruch is infamous for their pre-med program. they do offer the courses that will fulfill a pre-med track and i guess you would major in bio or chem. i’m currently on the pre-med track at baruch but am transferring out. my chem I and bio I professors are wonderful. they know their material, they teach it well and they will provide you with individualized attention if you want it. they will do everything in their power to ensure you do well in their class if you deserve it. is the curriculum rigorous? i don’t think so. gen chem in other schools are supposed to be a ween-out course while here at baruch, i personally think, it is a breeze.

baruch will and can prepare you for med school, and it is very possible to get an A in all the science courses which can look great for your application but if you are looking for something really challenging or a school to really put you on the playing field, i wouldn’t recommend baruch. i also don’t know much about the biomed society here or the even the pre-med advisement, they may as well be non-existent.

where are you transferring?
