<p>I’m sure this will make a good number of seniors who couldn’t apply early this year upset lol.</p>

<p>I’m also willing to bet Columbia will lose a decent number of ED apps to these two next year. better that way though, i guess; it’ll weed out people who are just chasing prestige, perhaps.</p>

<p>I’m willing to bet that most of the top schools will have earlier EA/ED notification dates next year because this will reduce so much of the clutter</p>

<p>That’s certainly a possibility, joso, but I think the biggest hit will be Yale. Might some people decide to do Columbia ED (and become Columbians) even though it’s not their first choice, just because they crave security? Yes. But many, many more people applied to Yale SCEA so that they could have the security of getting into a top school without the obligation of attending. “Yale SCEA, then Harvard RD” has been a mantra for the past few years, and it’s now dead.</p>
