<p>hello!</p>
<p>i have a question. i received an admissions booklet in the mail today (one of those glossy things that try to sell the college), but because i lost my admissions ID, i havent been able to check my admissions decision online. can i assume i got in based on receipt of that booklet? (it would seem very cruel to send one of those booklets to a reject at this time of year)</p>
<p>My online decision has been up since last week, but still nothing in the mail and I live in NJ. This lag seems longer than that of most schools. Why have CMU applicants recieved the official mail envelope and some haven't?</p>

<p>I'm on Long Island and I haven't received my letter either. I called Admissions after the mail came and was told that it should arrive shortly. Even though it states the letter was mailed on the 21st, the letters were probably mailed in batches. She did however confirm I was accepted. I was starting to get a little nervous that the online decision could be wrong.</p>
<p>Will information on scholarships awarded come in the "fat letters" for students admitted ED or will they come separately?</p>
<p>stellarknight, i thought decisions were strictly confidential. They just know whether a decision has been made or not - and therefore won't be able to confirm if you got in via phone.</p>

<p>I told her my online decision said I was accepted but I hadn't received my letter. She asked me for my Social Security # and then confirmed I was. I guess she could confirm it because I was already accepted online.</p>

I think they only send you information about the half-tuition scholarships in the "fat letter." I applied ED and there wasnt any scholarship info in my fat but I did get a few little scholarships. The financial aid package normally comes about a week after the fat letter, so be expecting it soon. Hope I was a help!</p>

<p>To be safe, I wouldn't assume anything by the mailing because I am not sure what the mailing contains. If you call the Admission Office, an Admission Counselor can assist you in retrieving your Admission ID. Please feel free to call the office - our telephone number is listed on the materials you received. </p>

As far as APEA, it shows a great interest in Carnegie Mellon which is wonderful and is used in conjunction with a myriad of other factors to determine your overall candidacy.

<p>Carnegie Mellon Admiision rep, My daughter will have have about 1150 on her SATs with a 3.9 weighted GPA as a result of attending a humanities magnet program. She is interested in Design. She probably will have a strong portfolio due to her passion in taking courses throughout high school in college level art classes. I do know that average SATs for CMU are about 1400,but this takes all schools into account. Are her SATs too low for CMU for the school of design? If so, she won't bother applying.</p>

<p>I don't think they would even tell you if that was true - because then people would start freaking out.</p>
<p>I doubt thats true. It's more likely they mailed out the batches by alphabetical order or geography or order of evaluation. Or perhaps, randomly.</p>

<p>Very good question. We don't mail our letters this way. Our letters are typically sent as batches that contain a mix of decision letters which are ready to go out by March 21st. Then, approximately, four days after the mail date of your specific letter, you can review the decision on "Where Am I in the Process." Hope that helps.
