Welcome New College Rep, OxfordAdmissions, from Oxford College at Emory University

Please join me in welcoming our newest College Rep, OxfordAdmissions, from Oxford College at Emory University! Oxford is a special college for freshman/sophomores locaed on a historic campus 38 miles east of Atlanta in the village of Oxford.

As a reminder, our College Reps are individuals that we have taken reasonable steps to verify as being from the school they represent. (If you find a CC member claiming to be an admissions person at a college and that member isn’t flagged as a College Rep, please let us know so that we can verify his/her status.)

As an matter of courtesy to our College Reps (who have real-world jobs and are incredibly busy during the admissions season!), please don’t post pleas for help naming the individual (e.g., “Hey OxfordAdmissoins - Need Answer ASAP!!!” is what NOT to do - ask your question in a new thread with a clear and specific title, and you’ll get input from CC members and, perhaps, from the resident College Rep if he/she has something to contribute.)

Say hello if you like, but please don’t ask questions in this thread - start a new one with a relevant title. Thanks!

For a second there …

Welcome to College Confidential, OxfordAdmissions :)

“For a second there…”

Me too. Me too…

Welcome to CC! The more reps here the better for everyone :)

Welcome OxfordAdmissions!

We’re very happy to have you on CC. I know you will help our members understand your unique traits as well as your relationship to Emory.

Probably not the best name.

why is oxford college posing as oxford…

What exactly is Oxford College of Emory University?
-relation to Emory historically/currently

I propose a name change to OxfordCollegeAdmissions. The current name can be misleading.

I’m sure they’ll mainly be posting on the Emory forum, so there shouldn’t be confusion.
And OxfordCollegeAdmissions is a very long name anyway.

Welcome, by the way.

Welcome! I’m a current Oxford student who’s been hosting an Oxford Thread in the Emory forum (http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/emory-university/1061698-oxford-thread-questions-conversation-14.html</a>).

Short version: Emory was founded in Oxford, Georgia. Later, it receive significant amounts of money and moved most of what it had to Atlanta, though a large number wanted to keep the undergraduate education in Oxford. The Oxford campus went through a number of changes and version until finally becoming Oxford College of Emory University. Oxford College is a two-year liberal arts experience and one of nine constituent academic divisions of Emory University, four of which grant undergraduate degrees.

Oxford students who satisfy the graduate requirements with a 2.0 or higher receive the Associate of Arts degree and thereby automatically continue to the College of Arts and Sciences. Alternatively, they can compete with other students for competitive admission to the Business or Nursing School.

Oxford students are Emory students and receive the same student ID, e-mail, etc. Their four-year degrees are the same.
