Welcome Packets

Does anyone know when we will get some sort of mailing from Columbia welcoming us to be the class 0f 2009? Maybe some info on the Summer planning sessions or even orientation? Thanks

You should have already received a “save the date” email about orientation. Otherwise, I don’t know.

Uh oh…what save the date email? Hmmmmmmmmm

"The New Student Orientation Program Welcomes You!

In the Office of Student Development & Activities, the main goal of the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP) is to welcome new students to Columbia University and the City of New York. During orientation week, all new students will enjoy programs and events that facilitate transition and enhance acquaintance with the Columbia University curriculum, student campus life, and the Big Apple. Student Development & Activities and the New Student Orientation Program are committed to enhancing the academic, educational, and social experience of all Columbia College and Fu Foundation School of Engineering & Applied Sciences students by fostering a dynamic and enriching University community."

The email continues, but that’s the gist of it.

Yeah I don’t think I got that email…

You might want to confirm that your deposit was received, although it may just be that they sent it to everyone who came to Days on Campus or something like that. The email was sent May 3 from nsop-programs @ www.studentaffairs.columbia.edu

My deposit was confirmed by an email reply, I never got this mail. I didn’t go to days on campus. I guess that supports your theory, did they ask for an email or name or something while you were there?

Wait! My deposit wasn’t confirmed. I sent mine out on April 30th. Should I be worrying?

sorry, I meant a reply to an email that I sent, asking if they got it or not

send them an email if you’re worried (they won’t notify you otherwise until later in May I think, I sent mine on the 28th, and was worried since that was close, since it says in one of their financial things that deadlines are not postmark dates, although in this case it might be a postmark date)

The core curriclum packet they send you is scary…

shosta, when did you get your packet about the core?

Yesterday I got a pretty big package with all the summer advisery stuff and there was a first year planning booklet that was mainly about the core

Where do you live and did it come reg mail or …

MA reg mail

When did you send in your reply card?

so did you get any housing news?

wow…im surprised that i was the only person who got it…i dunno i sent in my reply card a day or two before May 1, and got the envelope yesterday afternoon. It’s really not that much info, no housing or anything, but it does give you a schedule for summer orientation (both off campus info sessions and on campus) as well as a lot of info on first year planning

apparently we have to be ready to discuss the first 6 books of the Illiad on the first day of school during our Lit Hum class =/

lol dont worry they aren’t books but simply chapters and are really short, but still…

I’m intl, and sent in my reply on April 30th. Will Columbia fedex my package?

I got the package too, it’s very helpful actually. Does anyone know when we’re getting our copies of the Iliad?

I thought it said during orientation, or during some ceremony during the first couple of days before class, which will only give us a couple of days to read it before lit hum =/…
