Well rounded?

For a year now, I’ve single-mindedy wanted to go to Caltech. I love physics/chem/stat. Still no question there. But I’ve also always loved debate. Maybe it’s because I’m a third child and there was no other way to get a word in - who knows. Anywho, is an extremely math/science heavy class schedule/set of EC’s going to put me at a disadvantage applying to Yale pre-law? All this assuming the top class rank/sat typical of yale applicants, plus good req’s, some independent research, and good essays?

First of all, Yale does not have a pre-law major so if that is your only reason for applying to Yale I’m sorry but you’ve been misled. Also, it has been widely accepted that students who are either incredibly well-rounded or extremely one-sided (such as yourself) tend to do better in the admissions pool as you stand out more. I would not worry about applying to Yale with a heavy background in math and science. Personally speaking the only non-math/science EC I had was mock trial. The rest included science research, science clubs and competitions, math competition and clubs, etc.

I agree with yoshi.
