Hi everyone, i also applied for Wellesley early decision. Cross Fingers for all of you here.
By the way, I have a question; did you guys all get mail from Wellesley after you submitted your commapp???

@catonthestreet
nope, i didnt. were we supposed to?
I just know that around the 8th-ish Wellesley will be sending us an email letting us know whether or not we have all the materials needed (at least the admission office person said so) :)

@SinFused
Haha, I haven’t really decided on my colleges yet. Just that Wellesley is my top choice. You?

@catonthestreet
I have not gotten a mail. I submitted my app on Nov. 1st so I don’t think it would reach Shanghai that fast even if there was one.

@ SinFused
Did admission office person said so? Then it would be relief to me since I am not sure whether my AP score report had been reached or not!

@ bonni1993
O, you mean you sent your commonapp from Shanghai to Wellesley? wasn’t the application supposed to be online?

@catonthestreet
nono, what I meant to say is that even if there was mail, I would not have received it yet because I’m all the way in Shanghai. I submitted the app on Nov. 1st. electronically through common app.

@catonthestreet
yup the admissions person said so, and I’m pretty sure you dont need to send in your AP scores for admission, it is only needed when you are accepted and wants college credit for the courses you’ve taken. So far, they just want to see whether you took challenging classes or not
hope that helps!

@bonni1993
yeah…i haven’t really decided on my second or third choice. but as of now I’ve applied to uni florida, uni miami since they are within my state haha
but other schools that I’m looking at for backup would be uni george washington, uni chicago, NYU, and bryn mawr

Hello, everyone. I just wanted to throw out a couple of suggestions for participants of the Wellesley ED 2015 thread…

At the beginning of the thread, SinFused, who, laudably, took the initiative in starting up this discussion thread, began her entry with “Hey Girls.”

One thing I know is a sore spot with Wellesley students and faculty, alike, is the use of the word “girls” to refer to the bright, mature and talented young women who make up the Wellesley community.

I wanted to propose that we all keep in mind that words help define experience and perception. You are no longer girls but, rather, young adults. My suggestion, therefore, is to begin thinking of and referring to yourselves as future Wellesley women, not “Wellesley girls.”

The other suggestion I wanted to make was that any conversations of minimal interest to other participants in the forum be limited to private e-mail exchanges. I would include in this category the discussion of high school courses that forum participants are taking at their specific schools, and any other details of a private nature that have little or no bearing on the stated topic of the thread. It is very likely that people who are interested in the Wellesley ED process may become frustrated or lose interest if the thread becomes bogged down with a lot of unrelated side-discussions. For instructions on how to carry on private discussions, please refer to the “Help and Rules” section listed in the side bar.

Best of luck to everyone in the forum!

Sorry for going tangential on the topic, will try and keep it to the minimum. I think it’s just because everyone is so ecstatic about applying to Wellesley and that we just want to get to know each other, since we might all end up studying there ((:

I really cant wait till December, does anyone know when Wellesley starts reviewing the applications? Also, on the common app site, have your other forms(supplement & school forms) other than the Common app been downloaded by Wellesley yet?

@marama
Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll keep that in mind

@bonni1993
I’m not sure when they are starting, but I know that by 11/25 (nov SAT scores release date) Wellesley would’ve finished the reviewing process, so im thinking they should be starting around next week~

Best wishes to all ED applicants!! I am also applying Ed, and a serious Wellesley-hopeful, pretty excited and nervous at the same time. I sent in my ACT scores about two weeks- before Nov. 1…do you think Wellesley will receive them/received them by the appropriate time? I might be getting a C+ (first quarter grade) in AP Physics, based on how I did on this exam. I’ve never taken a real physics course before AP. This makes me extremely concerned and I’m fearful of how Admissions will look at this grade. What do you think? Most people tell me there’s nothing I can do about but I would feel better if I could. Thanks.

@SinFused
Hmm, really? because a lot of us are taking the Nov SAT and that Wellesley’s admission site said that it was the last SAT date to take it for ED applicants

@bonni1993
yeah it’s okay if you take it in november, you just have to rush it in when you get it and call the admissions as soon as possible (as in today or tomorrow) to let them know you will have scores coming in from Nov test date. so that when they vote on the decision after 11/25, they will be able to put your new scores into the “equation” :)

@SinFused
Ahhh I see. Cause I’m taking my subjects tmr. I only have one Math2 and Wellesley wants 2 subject tests. BTW, on the common app when it asks for tests, I put that I will be taking physics and Chinese. but if I don’t send in my physics score because I don’t like it or something, will they care?

@desichick16
the C would probably not look so nice, but if the rest of your application is strong (test scores, essay,recs, ECs), and your junior year grades are solid, maybe it’ll be okay~ I really can’t think of anything you could do right now since the apps are in, but stay positive! it’s important
good luck!

@bonni1993
nah I dont think they will care, by then you should be accepted already and the testing is just to see if you get to earn any credits.

as for SATII’s you should be able to change your test or decide to add tests on the day if you need that extra SATII, you prolly just have to pay for the extra one you’re taking later on. good luck on the testing!

@SinFused
Hmmm really? But I thought that they wont look at your application unless everything is in (I only have 1 SAT subject score now)

Hey Ladies!
Its nice to know that we can wait through this tough process together. Thank you so much SinFused! i was thinking about starting a thread like last year’s ED applicants as well.

Two questions, first who is excited to graduate form High School and step into our next stage in life, and secondly, don’t you all feel empowered by this “sisterhood” that we are essentially forming? I really think that this is a really cool idea, and hope that the process will be a tad bit easier with the support of you guys! Yay!

hey!
i am from china! i have applied wellesley in ED! nice to meet you! i really love wellesley!

good luck!
