Wellesley for investment banking?

Is attending Wellesley going to be prestigious enough for me to break into IB? I’ve been researching lots of different aspects of it and I know it’s not a target, but is the pathway common enough? Some places say that unless you’re at a top 10 target schools you stand no chance.

As one aspect to consider, Wellesley appears to offer a superb economics program: https://ideas.repec.org/top/top.uslacecon.html.

Not true. Many schools have alum in IB/banking.

I am not sure what you know about IB/why it’s appealing or if the many other types of banking roles would be of interest. For IB (and many other desirable jobs) you will need high grades in rigorous courses and you will have to network, the school career advisors generally aren’t going to help you get a job.

Have you reached out to the career center at Wellesley and asked about placement into various banking roles? Looked at LinkedIn? If not, I would do those things.

What major(s) are you interested in? If econ, have a back up major in mind in case that doesn’t work out for whatever reason. Good luck.
