that is so incredibly frustrating. I am so sorry
“Last year we admitted approximately 50 students from the wait list. In the last ten years we have admitted as many as 100 students in a year and we have admitted a minimum of 15 students in all but one year. We expect to consider students from the wait list this year as well, but we are uncertain at this time how many offers of admission we will be able to make.”
That’s what was on their FAQ but this year is so different so who knows? I feel like a lot of us were waitlisted?
It’s my dream school too. I know a waitlist is better than a rejection but it still hurts. Anyway, I don’t know if they will admit a lot of applicants from their waitlist but I would advise you to read the FAQs enclosed in your decision letter.
waitlist, my third waitlist so far :’)
My D’s third waitlist, too!
My D waitlisted, and I read it as “Congratulations you are qualified, but sorry we do not have room temporarily.” Cheer up and keep hope.
Wellesley received 7920 applications this year which is about 20% more applicants than last year. The school admitted about 16% of those applicants.
I wonder how many were waitlisted
That information, I don’t have. I don’t think they have published that data just yet.
waitlisted
I was also waitlisted. So far I’ve been waitlisted at Bryn Mawr, Wellesley, and Mount Holyoke.
Waitlisted aghhhh
is it just me or are there more waitlists than rejections haha
Below is a link to some of the stats of the admitted class. I’ve predicted that waitlists will be in play more than ever this spring, however the conventional wisdom is difficult to process given these numbers. The fact that 50% of admitted students were “test-optional” strikes me as a bit of an experiment. The “experts” were predicting that selective schools weren’t sincere about test-optional evaluation and would fallback to test scores. Clearly, Wellesley was serious. If this is representative of the results of other selective schools, there is no predictability.
me on the waitlist watching this like

me haha
I was also waitlisted at Wellesley and Mount Holyoke… and I really really really liked those colleges
There are more waitlisted than rejected.
That would be ridiculous. I understand that schools don’t want students to feel bad but that stat makes the waitlist a participation trophy. Sounds a bit like Wellesley doesn’t want anyone going back to school with anything bad to say.
really??? I was waitlisted so this would be sad news lol
