Were my scholarships pointless??

So I earned enough in scholarships to cover all my first year expenses, but I just found out that might not be the case. I’m on tritonlink about to accept my official awards, but it says if any new sources of income (including scholarships) are available, you must report them so they can revise your awards. Does this mean that the school will just take away some grants and all my first year expenses won’t be covered?

I believe the financial aid office will first subtract reported scholarship money from any loans you may have been offered, and then - if you still have excess money after the loans have been canceled, or if you don’t have any loans - they will begin to reduce the grant offer. Don’t worry, they will make sure you have enough money to cover all of your expenses (they will just even it out - if you have a little extra scholarship money, they’ll reduce the grant money to match it, etc.)

(so, yeah, they will re-adjust their offer based on how much money you will have available… if all of your expenses are covered with scholarships, you don’t need the school to help you pay for things). If the scholarships are non-renewable after the first year, they will re-adjust your aid offer for your sophomore year to account for that.

I think the external scholarship will offset the grant first.
