Wesleyan Class of 2018 ED I Thread

i play piano although not as extensively as danielfelsen haha. those are all artistic things though!

opiv, if it makes you feel any better i have similar stats to you! anyway since this is cc, everybody is much more qualified and i dont believe are representative of the entire applicant pool

I think most people who apply to Wes are looking for a creative and intellectual vibe, so the fact that a lot of us have similar interests is not that surprising.

ahh wes is perfect. most of my friends dont share my interests so thats also why its so appealing

It’s the same for me, which is why the rejection will sting so badly, at least now there is still an ounce of hope.

i really hope you guys get in at least! this thread is really helping me to get past these next 2 weeks. just remember wes looks at you as an entire person. i skimmed through the gatekeepers and it says that at least 3 admissions officers read your app. here is a good summary of the important points: [Ilib4kids (Seattle, WA)'s review of The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College](Ilib4kids’s review of The Gatekeepers: Inside the Admissions Process of a Premier College)

I really hope we all get in atlava18241… We all clearly want to get in really badly and it would be amazing if Wes sees that!

yes!! if only there was a “why wes” question…

did you guys have interviews?

Just read this and in response to opiv’s comment, it is a holistic admission process so no one knows who will get accepted. This is a very interesting article on the admissions process and how someone with perfect grades is equal in consideration to someone with subpar grades at Berkeley.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/08/04/education/edlife/lifting-the-veil-on-the-holistic-process-at-the-university-of-california-berkeley.html

Also yes I interviewed with Andy Ribner during my visit, it was super relaxed and I think it went well! Also I love their postcard thing, makes it feel very personal.

And also in response to atlavas comments on his friends thats funny. I think my friends share similar interests to me but I really am excited to meet new people and I think I am more into philosophical/“understanding life” for lack of a better term. talking about the abstract world is exciting for me haha

I interviewed as well during Homecoming weekend, which was nice because I was also able to talk to students and really get a feel of the population.

great article, thanks for sharing!

thats awesome! the interviews are kinda fun actually. haha oh yeah you go to an artsy school. and you’ll def be able to find a bunch of people who are into philosophical/abstract stuff at wes :)

on my overnight, i was paired with somebody who likes psych and history (my intended majors), it was really great lol

thats awesome. i never got to do an overnight just because of weird scheduling issues. can u elaborate on your experience?

Atlava18241 I feel like I am going to be all over the place in college because I want to major in psych but I am also interested on government, media, film, criminology, law etc… How was the overnight by the way? I never got a chance to arrange one ):

I did an overnight too and it was absolutely amazing

Can you share some of your experience?

atlava, was it part of TAP? and i can share what happened, but what do you guys want to know specifically? i did mention before that one of the things that stood out to me was the fact that the people there were definitely nice and welcoming

I guess I am just curious about anything that stood out in the door rooms at night and just the dynamics in the residence halls.

We made it through another day of waiting for results, congratulations everybody!

Residence life? What people were doing for fun? Food?

Haha this probably can’t all be felt overnight but just whatever you felt.
