I have a few actually. One of them is an internship at the NY Philharmonic in a program called Composer’s Bridge which is a free program that teaches kids 6-8th grade how to compose music and they ultimately get to hear it performed by members of the phil itself. That’s actually volunteer not a job. I’m also a private teacher for a few students and I’m not doing it right now but over the summer and starting january, I’m an intern to this documentary filmmaker guy who’s currently working on a documentary about this russian writer. and I help him with various things.

I need a job I’m so broke haha I did a research internship over past two summers but I didn’t get paid.

I have worked for my organization the past two summers, one as an intern and one as an employee. I also travel during the summers, living and immersing myself in different cultures.

I intern at a local booking and promotions company. I help promote things, and set up shows, and load in bands, take tickets, things like that

That’s awesome, I would love to do something like that!

sissy thats awesome! yeah i’m on my phone too. i love hearing about that! now i really want to meet you! ive also grown up around a lot of kids with special needs so i can really relate with them. i volunteer at an activity center for kids with autism and last year it was infuriating to see other volunteers condescend to them. people should at least try talking to them normally instead of just telling them what to do. showing them that youre involved and that you want to be there with them as a friend is the best thing one can do. i really hate when people are so cruel and i think i owe it to them to not let this happen

ahh thats awesome opiv. and atlava/clearwater thats really awesome i agree that special needs kids are looked down upon as if they arent part of society.

Atlava I want to meet you too… The kids I work with, I have seen them mature and learn to socialize with one another, and it just inspires me. And also to know I have helped them in small ways is amazing to me. When people look down upon the kids I always the first one to call them out on them and teach them how special the olds I work with are. I can’t convey how much love I have for the kids I work with!

danielfelsen and opiv, your internships sound really great!

thats really amazing! the special needs/ld community will always be a part of me no matter what i do in the future

Same here, I don’t think my career path will involve working with them, but I might want to adopt a kid with developmental disabilities or volunteer at programs!

yess! at wes! ahh omg.

anyway i wish i had emphasized that more in my interview, i was too busy rambling about history and making random comments lol

haha my interview was me rambling about film music and how i wanna do it and how wes would suit me and how i wanna collaborate with the film kids. i think my interviewer really liked me. i mentioned the movie UP and he was like sorry i cant concentrate i love Pixar lol. I also asked him what he thinks the worst part about Wes was and he said “to be honest I think our breaks our too long because I enjoy being here so much and I’m not saying this to sell you the school”

Oh I spent almost all my time talking about the kids…one of the questions was if you could do only one thing at Wesleyan…besides academics …what would it be…and I didn’t even hesitate before talking about working with kids with developmental disabilities…I just wish id talked more about other things…aw well I’m sure they got what they needed from both of us at the interviews!

i love Up! and my interviewer said the worst part was that there’s never enough time to do everything you want, since there are so many things happening on campus

oh yeah i asked that question too danielfelsen. my interviewer was telling me how her passion is for diversity and how she wants to expand the awareness for that. i was really amazed with that because wes is known to be diverse and the fact that shes always reaching for more is quite inspiring

I also talked to my interviewer about a student she knew and I both knew…my interviewer was a current senior.

Hmm my guy just asked what my interests are and what I like to do with my time and how I would do that at Wes. I didn’t ask him many questions

Oh my interviewer didnt ask me that question. He asked me whats my favorite courses at school and I talked about calculus and physics which sometimes translate into music and we just talked about wes’s scene, how its really easy to have an event if you want and how there is always so much going on your never bored.

my interview wasn’t that great haha so i’m glad it doesn’t count that much
