<p>exactly rankings are irrelevant when it comes to the qualify of the actual school. all schools have some good and some bad professors. it all comes down to fit</p>

Wesleyan is popular among kids interested in the other schools you listed, but want a certain atmosphere and opportunities they wouldn’t have at a lot of the other schools. I don’t think that being “not quite smart enough” has anything to do with it because wes’s average SAT scores are pretty high (like a 700+) and anyone applying to any of these schools is going to have a nice gpa and ECs. I mean, sure, I probably have a better chance at wes than I do at haverford or williams, but that doesn’t make wesleyan any less desirable or amazing, and it is still a difficult school to get into. I’ve never really equated selectivity with how good a school is, but maybe that’s just because I live close to Penn State so I’ve never had the “if it accepts less than 40% of all applicants then it is a great school” idea put into my head. Penn State accepts a majority of its applicants and it isn’t super high on the rankings, yet students LOVE the school and are always really excited and enthusiastic about going there. Not because it is selective or high on US News Rankings, but because it is an awesome school with great people and it is the school they want to go to. People who apply to wes (especially ED) want to go to wes and are really excited about it, so yeah, we’re gonna be nervous, excited, and want to talk to each other. (And this thread is particularly long because we are having fun talking and venting.) </p>
<p>Sorry. I didn’t mean for this to be so long, but it worries me a lot when people think that the ranking of a school REALLY matters and equates to how much students want to get into the school. Getting a 36 on the ACT doesn’t mean Harvard is the school for you, ya know? So please be more open-minded.</p>

<p>I totally agree with you acoolpanda!!! Some of the kids at my school think I’m crazy for applying ED to Wes because it’s binding. They think I could get into “better” schools, but what they don’t understand is how special Wes is!!! I want to get in so badly!!!

<p>Why would anybody not applying ED or even RD to Wes look at this thread? This person who is bashing us is an adult who clearly has no life and whose words should not even be thought twice about. We know that Wes is an amazing school and that is all that matters.</p>

A few are harder to get into.</p>
<p>Honestly though, Wes is pretty hard to get into, and it shouldn’t even matter. At least for me I fell in love with the school the second I walked onto the campus for the first time. I can’t see myself going anywhere else, and that is why I want to go to Wes. I don’t care what Wes is ranked, I want to go there so I can truly be myself.</p>
