West Coast Interviews

I’ve kind of been under the asusmption that there are VERY few Yale alumni on the west coast (in california, specifically), and therefore believe that my chances at being contacted for an interview are low. Am I right?

There are thousands of Yale alums in California. The question is how many of them are alumni interviewers. If you live in a metropolitan area, your chances of being interviewed are better because there is a larger number of alumni interviewers nearby to serve you. I’d say your chances of being interviewed are fairly good.

I know there are a few in the Bay Area, but I too am under the impression that there aren’t very many once you get away from the center of Silicon Valley. Last year, I was at an information session, and I remember thinking about how there wasn’t an alum in charge of my area, and I live only about 35 minutes from San Jose.

february_rain–Could you please clarify what you mean when you say there wasn’t an alum in charge of your area?

hmm february_rain…I live in Half Moon Bay…do you know if there would be one for me? Thats about 45 minutes from San Jose…I really want an interview but I hope that my location doesnt prevent that…

Hope that clarifies what I meant! :] And SerraPadre, I have no idea. I would say that your best bet is to submit your application and see what happens.

i just contacted by a yale alumni…problem is that i live 45 min away from san diego and they want me to come to Palm Springs…about 2hour drive depending on traffic…great  it’s ok though, i mean its all for yale! ^_^

I guess I was luckily to live near the Palm Springs area. It’s FULL of older, wealthy retirees (including Yale alumni). Also, many New Englanders come for the summer climate!
