WFH rug question

I had no idea how to title this.

My husband has taken over our dining room for his work from home office. We pretty recently put new carpet in there. He has moved a desk chair over the dining room table. The chair was tearing up the new carpet so he put an area rug down. Now the area rug moves. It’s a conundrum lol

Any advice on a new area rug that wouldn’t move? So we don’t have to keep rearranging the area rug. I think we need about a 3’ to 4’ x 5’ rug. Husband thinks we should buy a carpet remnant but I’m not sure that wouldn’t tear up the other rug.

I was going to suggest one of those plastic floor protector thingies.

That’s what I bought. Found lots at staples. Thanks. I guess I was having a senior moment ?

For a nicer look, the have protectors that look like wood which can be placed and protect as desired.
