WGU Chemistry - Is this a good program?

It’s a Bachelor of Arts Science (Chemistry, 5-12) - Leads to Teacher Licensure. I have no intention of ever teaching at least not in the near future. I don’t have the option of going to a brick and mortar and going to school online would be beneficial to me.

I’d plan on getting my masters degree in of science in chemistry. I may even consider going to med school if I can keep my grades up.

Is this a good program?

This program is designed to train high school chemistry teachers – not professional chemists. If you want to teach high school chemistry, then it may be an acceptable option.

But if you want to go to a university for an MS degree in chemistry, or for an MD degree, then this program will not work. It would not be considered equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

Bachelor’s programs in chemistry are typically accredited by the American Chemical Society. ACS does not believe that online programs can provide acceptable training in chemical laboratory techniques:
