A classmate of my son who has been deferred for Wharton caught cheating on her semester final. Does anyone know if the HS counselor is required to report this to UPenn where she is deferred? Will this be marked on her mid-year report?

Her poor judgement will affect others including my son. Their HS team will be representing the district at the state level competition next week. She will not be able to participate. Someone else on the team must step up and fill her role.

I would say it depends on how the school handles it. If the teacher decides to just give the student a failing grade on the exam and end it on that, then I would say no. If they report it to the administration however, I think that it will be reported. Either way, the chances of the deferred students will be significantly lowered.

The last thing the business world needs is another liar and cheat. I hope it gets reported.

How is this any of your business?

I guess it’s her business because she knows about it.

And it stinks.

Here’s the Mid-Year Report form from the Common App: https://www.commonapp.org/CommonApp/Docs/DownloadForms/2013/2013MidYear_download.pdf.

It clearly asks the guidance counselor, “Have there been any changes in the applicant’s disciplinary status at your school since you submitted the original School Report?”

Your post is transparent. All you’re trying to do is hurt someone. :(

Wonder how this all played out?
