Wharton Profile

I found this while I was searching through the net… it is an article published by Business Week regarding the profile of the 2005 entering freshmen… I know there have been discussions regarding the acceptance of Wharton ED and RD, this article seems to imply that Wharton has an overall acceptance rate of 16.10%… check it out… Bloomberg - Are you a robot?

“The university admissions office manages admissions to the business program
4,201 people applied to undergraduate programs for the 2005 academic year. The school accepted 16.10% (selectivity) of those applicants, and 76.70% of admitted applicants (yield) enrolled.”

I would assume that since 76.70% of the admitted applicants enrolled, this is not the ED rate… most likely the overall… the article didn’t say… but this would mean that the ED rate is actually higher than 17-18% as mentioned in some other threads…

Nobody is really sure what the numbers are. The only fact that there generally everyone agrees on is that there is a higher rate of acceptance for ED applicants compared to RD applicants.

I have been doing some research, and I don't think Penn releases the acceptance rates of individual schools... well they release the overall acceptance rate... but is this article reliable?

well then if you assume that, where did the first person who posted the 17-18% get his/her information? I am really interested now for some reason.

I think some ppl looked at the stats released and based on the number of applicants, they assumed somethings and came out with 17-18%... this article is actually published... so I think this is more crediability...

There was an article in the DP this year that had a graph listing applications/acceptances for each school. See if you can find it in the DP archive: www.dailypennsylvanian.com

Found it:

For class of 2010:
Wharton: 12.1%
College: 17.4%

Overall (all schools including SEAS and Nursing): 17.7%

hey quaker... is that the overall acceptance rate for Wharton...?

I thought it was self explanatory, but I guess not:
Overall is for the entire University-acceptances:applications for the class of 2010 RD&ED combined. The Wharton subset of that is 12.1%.
