What 2000 Calories Looks Like

This was from around the holidays. Quite interesting to note some of the contrast in amounts, type of food, etc. Interesting how much food you can get at Subway for 2000 calories - looks like a whole days worth of food to me!

I can only imagine how sweet a 2000 calorie milkshake is - yuck!

Any surprises? I have to say, I’d like to try 200 calories worth of that Cheesecake Factory Louisiana Chicken Pasta! - that would probably be enough to clog an artery or two. But sure looks worth a bite.

I thought the choices were perhaps unfair to BK and McD’s; they picked highly caloric sandwiches. A regular whopper is about 540 cal so you can eat a meal for under 1000 calories, which may or may not be too much for your day. Similar for McD’s.

OTOH, the meal at IHOP seems to be pretty normal and I doubt most people understand how caloric Chipotle can be.

True. An interesting comparison would be to pit two meals against each other at the same restaurant. So take that 2000 Olive Garden pasta extravaganza and along side it, show how much Olive Garden soup and salad (no breadsticks) you could have for 2000 calories.

As someone who LOVES sweets (I limit added sugar for the sake of my health, but before I used to do that, I could literally have just sweets for all my meals), I really would want that milkshake. Even more, I would want that giant cake! YUMMM!!!

WOW… I love the Louisiana Chicken Pasta. Just had it last week. I guess I won’t be eating that again :frowning:

If that’s what 2000 calories looks like, I must be eating 4000 calories a day!

Wow this is interesting. It looks like fried food does you in. I want the chef that made those home meals I will take all of them.

In NYC, all the menus at chain restaurants have calorie counts. Big surprises!

I’d like to thank the NYT for giving us calorie counters permission to have cheesecake for dinner! I’m quite sure that’s what the article said, and I’m sticking to it.
