I know that like a year ago Ludacris, Girl Talk, and Asher Roth performed at ucsb.
I’m curious who else has played there, and if I may have some great shows to look forward to.
Also how is the music scene in sb? Any local bands/shows around on weekend nights?

For a metro area of it’s size, the Santa Barbara/south coast area has tons of venues. Here’s a few examples:

1) Local bands: Walk around Del Playa on Friday night before the noise restrictions kick in at midnight. Many bands that launched from the Santa Barbara area started out playing at Del Playa house parties. [Rebelution[/url] is one example and I remember seeing them often along DP.

2) The Hub at the UCEN has concerts of smaller acts. You can look through here to see some examples:

3) Mainstream acts typically play at the Santa Barbara Bowl:
[Santa Barbara Bowl](http://www.sbbowl.com/concerts.htm)

4) There’s some clubs downtown like Velvet Jones that host acts.

5) The big free concert of the year (where the artists you mentioned performed) is the annual Extravaganza: [Extravaganza (Music Festival) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Extravaganza (music festival) - Wikipedia)
There are also occasionally free concerts at Storke Tower. I remember when Gunther and the Sunshine Girls played there, haha.

PS… My music knowledge is pretty limited but hopefully the info above is a good starting point to learn what’s available in the area.

Haha awesome. Thanks rc251!

For those reading this and wondering as well…
With the links above I found that some artists such as Run-D.M.C., E-40,T.I., Ben Kweller(woo!), Mickey Avalon, Saosin, Hellogoodbye, ectectect have played at Extravaganza (yearly free music festival for ucsb).
And this year Drake is booked.
Ohhh my god I can’t believe I’m missing that. D:

you can go it’s free for everyone…

Green turns to Black

It’s in may, i won’t be down there until the fall. And I live six hours awayyyy.
Lol

oh haha. I don’t think it’s worth waiting hourrrs for drake. he’s ok. i would’ve gone to see nas.

Rebelution is HUUUUUUUUUUGE on campus…all members of the band are actually UCSB alums and have put on some killer shows. If you love reggae you’ll love em:
