I am currently applying for a M.Arch II program in one of top universities of U.S.

However, they said: "Potential candidates will be required to be available and make necessary arrangements for a personal interview. Interview expenses will be the responsibility of the candidate.

I am wandering what kind of this interview is? what is the intent? And they will not give the candidates the AD till they passed the interview? I am not sure if my understanding is right.

Could anybody having this kind of experience before gave me some suggestions?

Thanks

Usually an interview is the final step before admissions… not everyone who applies gets an interview, but not everyone who gets an interview gets accepted, either. The purpose of the interview is to make sure you are in fact an intelligent person whom they would like to have around for the next three years, who can speak about your work and your goals in a convincing way. If you have any more work to show that’s be recently completed, that can help too. I’m not sure what you mean by “the AD” so can’t speak to that.

Thanks,larationalist
The AD means Admissions.
I believe your suggestion would be really helpful. Some works, like not show up in the portfolio would be helpful.
