<p>What is wrong with this picture? New England is a tiny sliver of over-populated, fishy-smelling land in the far northeastern wastes of this country! What about GREAT AMERICA, the land of the free! What about purple mountain majesties, and the FRUITED PLAIN! What about us, what about the HEART of this nation! What are we but places on a map? NO! We are the heart and the soul of this country, and by God’s grace I will avenge them in this terrible misrepresentation, this mischievous consternation, of AMERICA’s greatest boarding schools!</p>

<p>What about the rest of America you pansy New Englanders? </p>

<p>What about Cate and Ojai in grand California, and Lawrenceville and Peddie in good ol’ New Jersee! What about our dear old friend MERCERSBURG, home of Jimmy Stewart and Benicio del Toro, and the Hill School in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania. Then there is tradition-rich Western Reserve Academy in Ohio and the Cranbrook Schools in stately Michigan. What have you to say for the proud colours of the Culver Academies, yea, there are so many more! </p>

<p>TECHNICALLY, New England is only 3 states - Conn., Mass., and Rhode Island (so far as I’ve read in my history book), so Exeter and St. Paul’s don’t “officially” count as New Englanders do they? But they’re still part of the most popular schools.</p>

<p>New England is connecticut, mass, maine, new hampshire, rhode island, and vermont. Some people in northern new england don’t like to consider ct as part of it :)</p>

<p>Incidentally, I’m from The other Side of Midnight, CT, and believe me it is New England (except for parts of Fairfield County, which is technically part of Ohio).</p>

<p>Haha, fun is fun I’m actually from ct too. I get lots of grief about how it shouldn’t be allowed to be in new england from my friends who live in nh/maine.</p>

<p>i know i’m way late and i doubt anybody will look at this but connecticut is the most new england state in new england and how is fairfield county part of ohio? (i live in a little town in fairfield county)</p>

<p>Legally, all of Fairfield County is part of the Great State of Connecticut, also known as The Nutmeg State, or The Constitution State. But technically, Easton, Weston, Trumbull and most of Monroe are still a part of Ohio. It all goes back to the various deeds handed out by the British King, James the First.

<p>we are equally unworthy of the 49 other states. we should give the states back to england, then… and the natives. all 300 million americans should head home… to jersey, york, and hampshire.</p>

<p>Delaware, which technically belongs to both Virginia and Maryland, was the first “state” to ratify the American Constitition, that glorious document, and therefore was and is the First State. You could look it up.</p>
