What AP Courses am I taking Senior Year

Alright I am going to BU and applying ED for CGS for almost guaranteed acceptance.
Because this is CGS my first two years I have to take three required courses per semester (lame I know) and one elective which will be Calculus I and II for my first year. The courses are on here.
[Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts Core Curriculum General Studies Boston University](http://www.bu.edu/cgs/academics/core-curriculum/)

Courses Taken:
AP Calculus AB
AP English Language and Composition
AP Biology

Senior Year Possible Courses:
AP European History
AP US History
AP Government
AP Calculus BC (Taking This)
AP/IB Literature
AP/IB Economics
IB Chemistry
IB Physics
Anatomy

Also any other courses that would help me that may be non AP/IB that could be reccomended based on those core courses would be very helpful. Please let me know which courses would give me a good start for my freshman year in college with that schedule. Thanks in advance!

My input: Chemistry and Economics for sure.

Why Chem and Econ? There doesn’t seem to be much related to it.

^ Because it looks like he can’t even test out of it (is that correct?), so it would be smart to take APs that he can test out of so he either a) can go into more advanced curses or b) not need to take them and fulfill his major requirements. What is your intended major, btw? If undecided, which way are you leading towards? Why would you take calculus I and II if you’re taking BC calc?

I don’t know how many courses you’re supposed to be taking from that list, but I would recommend AP Calc BC, AP Govt (Surprised that this isn’t a high school requirement), AP Lit, and AP Econ. I would recommend no IB courses for They would all be SL and, thus, not as helpful as AP and you wouldn’t be able to get credit for the courses.

I’m taking Calc so I will get an A in the courses in college. I have to take all of those courses my freshman and sophomore year. So I only get one elective per semester. I’ve already taken Regular gov which was a requirement. Also not all the IB Courses are SL and they prepare the class just as well for the AP Exams. Why is nobody telling me to take AP Euro, or AP History? Those seem to be more related to the subjects listed.

You can’t take HL courses in one year. It’s just not possible… Obviously, I’m assuming you’re a rising senior. Also, why would you retake both Calc 1 and Calc 2? Just for the GPA boost? It seems like you’re taking courses for no real reason (not even credit). In that case, choose what ever you like. It honestly makes no difference. There’s no class up there that will be very similar to the courses you listed. The only 2 I would for sure recommend are AP Lit and AP Calc since those are ‘fundamental’ courses.

Yes you can take HL Courses in one year. I can take IB Biology Year 2 If I want. IB Econ at our school covers AP Macro and Micro econ. What do you mean retaking calc I and II? I am taking the courses in high school so I get a good background in both so I can ace the courses in college. Understand now? Also I know AP Lit and Calc are fundamental but they don’t answer my question. I was asking you to look at the courses on that schedule and see what AP courses would be good to take for a good background.

^ Make sure you can do that. Never heard of anyone just taking the HL portion before. As an IB student, I can’t see that working out.

BTW, I did answer your question. There are no courses that will prepare you that you listed. None are at all relevant to the courses you will be taking except AP Lit (since you have english classes listed) and APUSH (‘Western History’).

So, Taking AP calc BC IS for the GPA boost. Okay.

I don’t know which IB courses you’re saying prepares you for AP exams except Econ. I received my IB diploma and there was only one course I felt comfortable taking the AP exam and that was IB chem HL, which would be impossible to cover in 1 year.

IB Bio HL in 1 year IS impossible now that I think about it (if you have an intention of taking the exam). I’m not trying to make you mad, but it literally is impossible.Your IAs are from both junior/senior year and you need a Group 4 Project even if you’re not for your diploma (Points on your IA). Without Group 4, you need 60 hours of lab work. (usually split up 35 junior year/25 senior year or something).

*I didn’t do extra research for the Group 4 because I remember it making an impact on my chem grade. I could look it up for you though. I did look up the Bio hours, though.

I’m NOT trying to fight you. I’m trying to help you. You don’t understand how HARD Higher Level courses are. Doing it in one year is ridiculous. AP does not necessarily prepare you for IB. They’re 2 TOTALLY different things.

If you PM me, I promise to help you the best I can. I just don’t want anyone to make a mistake by taking courses he/she isn’t ready for and have no relevance to your intended area of study anyway.

You’re wrong bud. IB HL Courses at some school are combined with AP Courses. I have taken Honors Biology and at my school the same material is covered in IB Biology Year 1. Because of that I can skip year 1 and take year 2. My labs wouldn’t be sent to IB if I was in year 2 they would just be graded normally.

We only have IB Chem SL and IB Physics SL at my school.

IB Econ covers everything you need to know at my school to do well on AP Micro and AP Macro. My friends took IB Econ and learned enough from the class to get 5’s on those AP’s although it is irrelevant to the question.

Same goes for Calculus BC am not taking the course for a GPA boost. I am taking it for PRACTICE so when in college I can take the course again and get an A because I will already know the material and it will boost my GPA.

I understood the Calc BC. I never requestioned that. It makes sense. Honors Bio 2 I could believe prepares you for IB Bio HL since Sl is pretty much not as intense as AP. As long as you’re not in the course and you feel you’re ready, go for it. HL Bio is considered to be a very hard exam. IB econ is so scattered and random. It would prepare you for the AP exam, but it wouldn’t make since to take it IB and not AP since it’s offered. But, again, it really doesn’t matter what you choose at all. Nothing’s going to help you completely as none of us know what you’re going into, what other requirements there are, etc. Ask this at the BU forum.
