What AP's to take for a biology/molecular bio major?

Question in title please need suggestions ^

My advice would be to try to do as much as possible to get the intro science classes out of the way. They are usually weeder classes, so credit from the AP Bio, AP Chem, and AP physics would go a long way. AP Calc is optional, it may be easier just to take calc in college though.

I agree with the person above, you’re going to have to take pretty much all the AP science classes, mostly AP bio and AP chem. I dunno about AP physics. There’s also general education requirements to worry about so try to take at most two of each subject category (math, history, art etc).

My boy, who just recently graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS and MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering, took as many of the general education AP classes/exams in high school as he could (English, US-, World-, European- History, psychology, macro and micro economics) in addition to Calc BC. This essentially provided him college credits for these general education classes that allowed him to concentrate his time at Michigan on his undergraduate engineering classes (12-14 credit hours per semester). The downside to this approach was that it may have affected his final GPA, provided he would have received in As/Bs if he had that these classes in college

I’m a current biochemistry and molecular biology major and in HS I took AP Bio, AP Chem, AP Calc, AP Physics, and AP Stats (for STEM related classes). However, quite a few people in my major either took fewer APs or none at all. Target yourself based on the universities you want to apply to. Don’t neglect the other stuff like humanities and languages just for the sciences. Keep in mind most of the time you need a 4 or 5 to get credit for STEM APs (or at least that is how it was for the schools I applied to).
