What are 2AP's??

<p>My S is going to attend a school that offers 2AP courses in 12th grade (Biology, Physics, Chemistry), but I have no clue if 2AP is more or less advanced than regular AP. It is a Math/Science magnet school that is very competitive.
9th: Physics
10th: Chemistry
11th: Biology
12th: 2AP courses??</p>

<p>Umm I have never heard of a “2AP” class. Maybe it’s just 2 AP classes adjoined togetheer?</p>

<p>Chemisry 2 AP, </p>

<p>you have chemistry 1 which is regular, so Chemistry 2 is AP, thus Chemistry2AP</p>

<p>I think it may possibly be how it is listed at a particular school, the Collegeboard doesn’t list 2AP…so that is my guess, its just Chemistry 2 which is the AP class</p>

<p>The following are the official names of the calculus classes at Galileo:</p>

<p>Fall Semester - “CALCULUS 1AP”
Spring Semester - “CALCULUS 2AP”
Spring BC after school class - “CALC 2AP-BC”</p>

<p>One school has Biology 1H and Biology 2AP, but no 1AP</p>

<p>Our HS has the kids take Biology 1 or Biology 1 Honors freshman yr unless they didn’t do well on their 8th grade standardized test (would then take Earth Science freshman yr). Same choices for Chem & Physics (reg college prep or honors level). Senior yr, students may take a 2nd yr of the same science at either the regular college prep level (Bio 2, Chem 2, Physics 2) or AP level (Bio 2AP, Chem 2AP, Physic 2AP). My son wanted more science exposure so he doubled up taking Bio 2AP sophomore yr concurrently with Chem 1 Honors… so that he would finish up with all three AP science courses (a total of 6 science courses).</p>

<p>So the 2AP label is just AP, but its a way to distinguish it from “regular” bio 1, or Honors</p>

<p>So 2AP is the same as AP…from what I can gather…</p>

<p>Yes, 2AP is AP. In our HS, the “2” means 2nd course in the series since students are required to take a year of honors bio before taking the AP course. In other schools, students just take the one AP course.</p>
