Couple questions:
Should I take all four AP classes for senior year? My parents think it’s too much but I think I must to increase my chances of getting accepted into the colleges of my choice. If I must delete an AP class from my schedule I will not do Enviornment. So should I take all four during my senior year or am I being greedy??

AP scores:
-US History 2
-English Literature 2
Would it be better to submit these horrible scores and show that I actually tried??

Class rank:
31 out of 265

SAT:
1st-1510
2nd-1430 (Unfortunately, I threw up at the test center but since I wanted to see my score I didn’t cancel it. I probably would have gotten around 1650)
**These scores will surely improve to near 2000s (min 1800s) because all I’ve been doing this summer is practicing SATs.

SAT II:
US History 530

Volunteer work:
-Elementary School volunteery work (max 30hr)- Basically act as a TA by organizing and preparing materials for next day’s lesson. Also, when necessary work with students with coloring, cutting, or whatever else they need help with.
-Piano accompaniment for Sunday services (max 5hr)- Play hymnals during Sunday services. It would count as volunteer work right? Regardless of religious affliation, I voluntarily did it.
-Volunteer at a local art museum- just got accepted so I’ll complete a minimum of 40 hours here.
-Also, I’ve done volunteer work at other places but, they were just one time things. Do admission officers like to see this kind of volunteer work??

ECs:
National Honor Society- all four years
Key Club- all four years
World Affairs Club- 11, 12
FBLA- 11, 12
Letterman Varsity Tennis-10, 11, 12 (Most Improved Award)
Church Youth Group- all four years (served as Secretary, VP, and currently serving as President)

Rec: I don’t know if they’ll be excellent because I’m a shy person but I’m sure they’ll be decent because I always did my best. I’ll get one from my teacher and two from my volunteer coordinators.

Essay: I haven’t selected a topic yet but I’m a good writer

I’d like honest answers, please. Thanks in advance!

bumpbumpbump

bumpppp.
i’ll chance back just leave the link. I promise

University of California San Diego - in
Univeristy of Chicago - mid reach
University of Rochester - in

that is if you get your SAT score to 1800+ hopefully

Actually, University of Washington standards have gone up, although your GPA should suffice. And as for any public school, it really depends on what state you are from. UC schools are more friendly toward in-state students, not to mention UCSD is one of the best in the system.

PLEASE raise your SAT scores,as well as your SATII score. Otherwise, those numbers will kill you. Your extra curricular activities don’t really pop out either. Too many Asians do community service, tutoring, and piano, after all. I would very much know. I’m an Asian myself. :)

ok well, taking up to 3 AP sciences next year will definitely be tough, and I don’t think it improves your chances if you do poorly in each of those classes. Also, dropping environment might help a little but bear in mind that environment is probably the easiest AP sci. course. So if you really want to ease the workload, its better to drop either bio or physics, unless you have a really strong interest in each of those classes.

 • not a good idea to submit those scores in my opinion. AP scores are just to help you get college credit and colleges mostly just use your AP classes as an indication that you are taking a rigorous course load.
 • Also, definitely try to improve those SAT’s. Seriously. break 1800 or even 1900 would be fantastic.

That being said;
Boston University - in
University of Washington - in
University of California San Diego -may be a bit of a low reach if you are out of state; i think UCSD is starting to get better in prestige a bit
Univeristy of Chicago - high reach
University of Rochester - mid reach (rochester is better than one might think)

Calculate your UC GPA for UCSD to get a better idea. Right now I would call it a reach, can’t say definitely until you have your final SAT scores.

I would take all four AP classes. APES isn’t that hard for an AP.
