<p>From what I saw, the NESCAC’s for my sport could get 1 “slot” (I assume this is of the 66 they designate" of kids they could pull in with more average stats, maybe ~30 ACT. After that, at least at Amherst (according to coach), they needed a 32+ACT(and strongly preferred 33+)/720+ on every SAT section and extremely good grades. A friend of mine who would’ve been a strong recruit for them had a 33 and great grades at a top prep, but had one bad grade freshman year, and couldn’t get past the pre-read because of it. So basically, if you’ve got these stats, it’s fairly easy to secure a “tip” into Amherst and Williams, and the coach said he could get 4-5 guys with these. Middlebury appeared to slightly lower the bar, and indeed that’s where the friend I mentioned before committed to. But the bar is insanely high to begin with.</p>
