<p>A question for students who are posting for “chances” on this forum. Just curious whether you are just looking for “moral support” or whether you are looking for someone to give you their honest opinion on your chances for admission so that you can decide whether you need a backup plan?</p>
<p>I think people are looking for others to make them feel better about their chances. I never asked to be chanced simply because I know my “portfolio” better than anyone on this site so there’s nothing that they can tell me that would make me feel better about my chances of being accepted.
Someone may have gotten accepted with stats similar to yours but that doesn’t make them an expert on admissions, nor does it mean that you will get in. Superb candidates get denied and the lesser applicant get accepted all the time. You never know what will happen so the only thing someone could expect to gain from chancing is a little confidence boost.</p>
<p>Maybe the chances threads should be required to include the “For entertainment purposes only” disclaimer. ;)</p>
